Grim Reaper was a British heavyweight robot built by Team Grim Reaper which competed in the Season 5.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was a two-wheel drive, octagonally-shaped robot armed with a rear-hinged flipping arm powered by a pneumatic ram. The primary weapon was capable of flipping 220lb opponents and lifting up to 550lbs. Grim Reaper lost its only battle after its aerial was chopped off by Agitator.
Outside BattleBots[]
The team originally entered Robot Wars with The Grim Reaper. Entering Series 3, it lost its first round battle to Big Brother.
Following this defeat, the team attempted to enter Series 4 with a rebuilt robot but failed to qualify. They skipped Series 5 entirely and had to withdraw from qualifiers for Series 6.
It was therefore not until Series 7 that Grim Reaper made its return, a year on from its BattleBots appearance. After advancing through its first round battle, Grim Reaper defeated Gyrobot and Big Nipper to win its heat and advance to the series semi-finals. There, Grim Reaper lost out to Storm 2 and was eliminated.
Grim Reaper continued to compete in various heavyweight live events in the United Kingdom before being sold on to Calum Jones. This new owner fully recreated the design with modern armour and fought in the pilot of the Robot Wars reboot with the replica robot Reaper.
