Grasshopper was a middleweight competitor entered by Team Nightmare which fought in BotsIQ 2011. It also fought under the name Locust as part of the superheavyweight multibot The Swarm, as seen in Seasons 3.0 and 4.0 on Comedy Central.

It was a two-wheel drive, invertible robot originally armed with two static spikes at the front, though these were removed for unknown reasons for BotsIQ. Grasshopper featured no active weapon, but was still able to pick up several victories thanks to its reliability, and driver Jim Smentowski's experience.

Outside BattleBots

In between Season 4.0 and the 2011 BotsIQ event, Grasshopper also fought at ROBOlympics 2004. However, it lost both battles to Stahl and Terrabyte, and was eliminated from the competition as a result.

Robot History

BotsIQ 2011 Please note that the order of the following fights is unknown, as documentation on the event itself is either limited or non-existent. This is typically true of untelevised events such as BattleBots IQ and those sanctioned by the BattleBots name.
Grasshopper vs. Fuchsia Fusion Grasshopper defeated Fuchsia Fusion by knockout after the shell spinner stopped moving.
Grasshopper vs. Miracle Max Grasshopper picked up another win against Miracle Max. After Miracle Max fell on its weapon and was unable to recover, it was counted out.
Grasshopper vs. Witch Doctor Grasshopper also fought Busted Nuts Robotics and Witch Doctor, but lost this battle by knockout.
Grasshopper vs. CATastrophe Grasshopper is known to have fought CATastrophe, though the result is unknown.
Grasshopper vs. Blue Flame Grasshopper lost again to Victor Soto and Blue Flame.
