Grasshopper was a middleweight competitor entered by Team Nightmare, which fought in BattleBots IQ 2011. It was originally one third of the multibot The Swarm, previously seen in Season 3.0 and 4.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was a two-wheel drive robot armed with two static spikes at the front. Grasshopper featured no active weapon, but was still able to pick up several victories thanks to its reliability, and driver Jim Smentowski's experience.
In between Season 4.0 and the 2011 BattleBots IQ event, Grasshopper also fought at ROBOlympics 2004. However, it lost both battles to Stahl and Terrabyte, and was eliminated from the competition as a result.
