It is a six-legged walking robot designed to resemble a large spider. Gloomweaver was designed to have grabbing pincers at the front with a flamethrower in the center. Much like the most recent build of Chomp, Gloomweaver was entitled to the 500lb weight limit for walking robots, double that of competitors using more traditional methods of locomotion such as wheels, tracks or shuffling systems. It uses hydraulic systems to power its legs.
Gloomweaver was confirmed to have been accepted ahead of the 2020 season, but had to withdraw due to time constraints with filming of the season being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to restrictions enforced by the pandemic, the team were unable to work on the robot from September to January 2021, but the team reapplied for Discovery Season 6 regardless of this setback. However, they again had to withdraw as the team's software engineer suffered a house fire, and focus understandably shifted away from Gloomweaver in the lead-up to the 2021 season.
It is currently unknown whether the team intend to reapply for Discovery Season 7. However, team captain and lead engineer Miles Pekara confirmed progress on Gloomweaver would eventually resume, and stated the bot was "around 85% completed" as of January 2021.

Outside of BattleBots, he also lent himself to MegaBots, a now-defunct company which aimed to launch a humanoid robot fighting league between giant mechanoid robots.
- Gloomweaver was the first walking robot of the reboot era to be publicly revealed to BattleBots fans via Facebook in 2020. However, Chomp would become the first to compete.
