The Giant Nut is the trophy given to the team which wins a BattleBots competition or recognised award within their respective weight class.
Each Giant Nut is made from a solid piece of aluminum material, with the BattleBots logo engraved into its front, above its threaded hole. For the modern seasons, the World Championship season number was also engraved into the front of the trophy. Each Giant Nut weighs 27.7lbs and measures ten inches across its diameter.[1]
Giant Nuts used to be handed out to winners of end-of-season Rumbles during the Comedy Central seasons, and half-sized Giant Nut trophies were also given to runners-up in their respective weight divisions until the show went into hiatus after Season 5.0. It is unknown, however, whether these were known as 'Giant Nuts'. During BattleBots IQ, Giant Nuts were replaced by trophies with the 'BotsIQ' logo, event location, year, division and category printed against transparent plastic.
Best in show award winners were also given Giant Nuts in their respective categories, but these were changed to bolt-shaped trophies in 2015.
For the reboot seasons, the Giant Nut was displayed throughout the season on a rotating, five-fingered display robot built by Mark Setrakian called Axis. Starting in World Championship VII, heavyweight Giant Nut winners from both the classic and reboots eras of BattleBots received banners hanging from the roof of the venue.
