Garm was a middleweight robot built by Don Lariviere of Kampfgruppe 5, which competed in Season 3.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was armed with a powerful, three-toothed vertical spinner. Garm made use of magnets to keep it from flipping itself over on impact, as well as side wedges to prevent opponents from getting underneath. Garm made it to the TV rounds of Season 3.0, but lost to Bad Attitude and was eliminated from the competition. It would not return for any future BattleBots seasons, but did feature in the canceled BattleBots video game despite only having one televised battle.
Builder Don Lariviere joined forces with veteran builder Todd Mendenhall to enter Triple Crown for the 2020 season on Discovery under Team Revelation. Though its debut was postponed to the 2021 season, it performed poorly, losing its only two battles.
Outside BattleBots[]
Garm also fought at BotBash 2001, where it won its first battle against Subject to Change Without Reason but then lost to Locust. Garm defeated WulfBane RAV-2 and Heavy Metal Noise in the loser's bracket before getting its revenge against Locust. A second loss, this time to Mosquito, sealed its exit from the tournament. Post-tournament, Garm won the 'Most Dangerous' award.
Garm's spinner was later loaned to Randy Eubanks, who entered Destructive Criticism into Robot Wars: Extreme Warriors.
A 1lb version of Garm was built by Don Lariviere for SOZBOTS events called Pico Garm.[1]
