Fluffy, also known as Fresh n' Fluffy was a 15lb robot built by Ransom Everglades Robotics which competed in three BattleBots IQ events between 2009 and 2011.

It was a four wheeled, silver, box shaped robot armed with a large spinning drum, and two feeder wedges on either side. The drum was made from aluminum with S7 steel teeth. Fluffy finished runner-up in the 2009 competition, losing to eXecutioner in the final. In 2010 and now called Fluffy II, it was armored in bent 4130 Chromoly.[2] The team replaced their bushings with roller bearings, allowing Fluffy's weapon to spin much more freely.

The team later built a 120lb version for the Large Class called Fluffy DeLarge. This went one better than Fluffy in 2011, defeating Ransom Everglades Robotics' own El Cholo in the final to secure two podium finishes for the team.

Fluffy's team featured several team members who went on to create HyperShock for the reboot seasons of BattleBots from 2015 onward - notably future captain Will Bales.

Fluffy took on The Dethinator in its first fight in the 2009 competition, almost immediately tearing off its spinning shell and winning by knockout.[3]

Fluffy's second fight of the competition came against Buzzy Wuzzy. Both robots survived to the end of the match, and Fluffy took the judges' decision.[4]

Fluffy vs. Angry Turtle

Next up for Fluffy was Angry Turtle. Though it is not known whether it won by knockout or a decision, Fluffy advanced in the winner's bracket.

Fluffy vs. Senioritis

Fluffy's fourth opponent was Senioritis. Though its weapon appeared to not be functional from the beginning of this fight, Fluffy took the win by knockout.

Fluffy vs. eXecutioner

In Round 5 of the winner's bracket, Fluffy took on eXecutioner. Fluffy lost this battle, but was still in the tournament as this was only its first loss.

Fluffy vs. Exterminator

Fluffy scores an OOTA hit on Exterminator.

Having lost its previous battle, Fluffy's fifth fight saw it in the loser's bracket finals against Exterminator. This fight took place in the larger arena. After overturning Exterminator early, Fluffy was able to land a hit which sent it bouncing around, teetering on the arena wall before landing in the ring-out zone. After this, Fluffy advanced to the final.

Fluffy vs. eXecutioner

Fluffy ultimately made the final in its class, where it took on eXecutioner for a second time.[5] However, Fluffy's weapon was disabled early on and eXecutioner was able to bully an inverted Fluffy around the arena for much of the fight. eXecutioner took the win by knockout and finished runner-up.

Fluffy vs. Little Drummer Bot

Fluffy fought Little Drummer Bot of Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart at some stage during the 2009 competition, though it is unknown whether this was a competitive fight or grudge match. The winner of this battle is also not known.

Fluffy II vs. ?

Fluffy quickly takes out its opponent.

Returning for the 2010 competition, Fluffy II took on an unknown, four-wheel drive opponent. Fluffy was able to land several early hits which disabled its opponent, giving it the win by KO.[6]

Fluffy II vs. Rattler 1

Fluffy II also fought Rattler 1 during the event. For this battle, Fluffy II led with its rear wedge as it looked to avoid an immediate weapon-to-weapon impact. Rattler 1 turned to face Fluffy II head-on, however, sending it into a backflip and tearing away its wedges. This combination of hits also disabled Fluffy II's spinning drum and hindered its right side drive. Fluffy II did enough to avoid a count-out, but Rattler 1 was declared the winner by judges' decision.[7]

Fluffy II vs. Myzer

Fluffy II took on Myzer during the competition too. Fluffy II approached its much larger opponent, who mistimed a flip and saw its flipper blade become chewed up by Fluffy II's drum. Myzer reversed into Fluffy II, eventually backing itself into the corner as Fluffy's drum spinner continued to grind against Myzer's primary weapon. From this point on, both robots had drive issues and struggled to land attacks for the remainder of the match. Fluffy II was unanimously declared the winner by judges' decision.

Fluffy II vs. Lucky Strike

Fluffy II leaves Lucky Strike to be counted out.

Another of Fluffy II's opponents in the 2010 competition was a fellow vertical spinner, Lucky Strike. Fluffy II did not spin up immediately, instead opting to turn around and lead with its back end. Lucky Strike appeared to be experiencing mobility issues, however, as it failed to capitalize on a weaponless Fluffy II struggling to escape the corner. With a slight tap, Fluffy II knocked Lucky Strike's weapon, tipping it back and over. This worsened Lucky Strike's mobility enough to the point that it was no longer moving and a count began. Lucky Strike was immobilized, giving Fluffy II another win.[8]

Mini Class Rumble

Fluffy II returned for a rumble at the end of the competition, but it is not known who won.

BattleBots IQ 2011[]

Fluffy vs. ?

Returning for the 2011 event, Ransom Everglades Robotics' fights were documented as part of the Bots High documentary. It remains unknown on whether Fluffy won the rumble or lost due to lack of airings and details regarding the rumble.
