The Crusher (often abbreviated to Crusher) was a lightweight robot which participated in every season of Comedy Central BattleBots as well as the Long Beach event in 1999.

It was a two-wheel drive, wedge-shaped with no active weapon. Crusher did well in spite of this, using its speed and pushing power to its advantage. It won many battles as well as reaching the quarter-finals in Season 2.0 and winning two Consolation Rumbles during its career. For Season 5.0, it was completely rebuilt, with its drive wheels being attached to the outside and a makeshift backup wedge being added to the rear to be used in the event of an inversion.

The Crusher competed for a short time after BattleBots as New Attitude alongside its middleweight counterpart Bad Attitude.

The Crusher vs. The Missing Link

CrushervsMissingLing lb99

The Crusher pushes Missing Link against the spikestrip.

Crusher swerves around Missing Link to avoid the saw and nearly scooped The Missing Link from its left side. Crusher then charges right into The Missing Link's saw and in the process drive under The Missing Link. The Crusher then scoops The Missing Link and crashes it into the wall. The Crusher also drives itself onto the killsaws. The Missing Link managed to hit The Crusher with its saw but The Crusher continued tackling. The Crusher rams into the The Missing Link's saw by the rear and scoops The Missing Link on top. This seems to have disabled The Missing Link's saw which wasn't spinning anymore. The Missing Link then pins The Crusher against the corner with its tail. However The Missing Link couldn't pull away and looked stuck. A timeout was called to break them up. After that The Crusher started pushing The Missing Link around and nearly drove itself into the killsaws but stopped right on time. Missing Link's battery drained prematurely and The Crusher won by KO at 3:13 and advanced to the next round, where it faced Defiant.

The Crusher vs. Defiant

Defiant won by KO and The Crusher was eliminated from the tournament.

Crusher Backlash 4

The Crusher is kicked onto its back from the spikestrip by Backlash.

The Crusher's only match of the season was against Backlash. The fight started with The Crusher zipping across the arena while Backlash advanced, disc spinning. The Crusher missed Backlash at first and hit the arena wall. For several more seconds, The Crusher zipped around Backlash, trying to score a hit. After a couple more misses, and The Crusher hitting the wall again, Backlash finally moved in to the front of The Crusher, striking it in the wedge and causing it to spin, before hitting it squarely on the side and knocking The Crusher upside-down. However, the force caused was significantly less than it should've been, meaning there was a problem with Backlash's weapon motor. The Crusher, upside-down, ran into the wall again, but this time, its inverted wedge pushed The Crusher up onto the arena wall spikes, lifting his drive wheels off the ground. Backlash then tried to move in to strike The Crusher again, but hit the wall instead. Later, it was discovered that this impact had sheared the shaft that the disc spins on, but the shaft stayed in place. Backlash moved aside to see if The Crusher could free itself from the wall, but it couldn't, so Backlash pushed The Crusher off the wall. The Crusher drove into the killsaws, which sent it flying through the air, landing upside-down again. A couple more hits from Backlash's disc, and The Crusher drove back up the wall. Backlash then waited before hitting the back edge of The Crusher, bending up the angled metal on the back. Backlash was then able to position The Crusher against the wall in such a way that it could not move and was counted out. Backlash backed away to perform a victory spin, winning by KO in 1 minute and 43 seconds.

After the fight, Jim Smentowski gave the broken shaft to Gus Steyer, the driver of The Crusher, as a souvenir.

Lightweight Consolation Rumble #2

Crusher Rumble 1

The Crusher also participated one of two lightweight consolation rumbles at the end of the tournament. It was driving around the arena at the first few moments of the fight, until it drove itself under the spikestrip as it could not free itself and it was left there for the rest of the rumble. The Crusher ultimately lost to Sallad, Cereal Box Killer, Rott-Bott 2000, and Mouser Mecha-Catbot.

Season 2.0[]

The Crusher vs. Stewbot

TheCrushervsStewbot

Stewbot gets destroyed by the pulverizer thanks to The Crusher.

After receiving a bye, The Crusher eventually fought Stewbot. At the start of this match, it was apparent that Stewbot had no control (the radio signals couldn't penetrate the BattleBox's Lexan) and it couldn't move at all. The Crusher approached the immobile Stewbot and carefully pushed it over to the pulverizer, where Stewbot was completely destroyed in a shower of Lego parts. The blows also smashed the R/C car in half and was counted out. The Crusher obviously won this match by KO at 1:26 and the remains of Stewbot were thrown away in a trash bag.

The Crusher vs. Dr. Inferno Jr.

The Crusher was pushed and slammed into the spikestrip by Dr. Inferno Jr.

The Crusher's next match was against Dr. Inferno Jr.. At the beginning, Dr. Inferno Jr. started pushing and slammed The Crusher against the spikestrip. The Crusher then managed to get underneath Dr. Inferno Jr. and slammed it against the arena wall and flipped it. Dr. Inferno Jr. was counted out and The Crusher won by KO in 50 seconds. This win put The Crusher to the quarter-finals, where it faced Beta Raptor.

When the match began, Both robots maneuvered around the arena and The Crusher managed to get under a few times. After a few head on clashes, The Crusher slammed Beta Raptor into the arena wall, getting it on top before backing away and letting Beta Raptor slide off. The two bots continued to clash and battle for position, with The Crusher generally getting the better of them, before one charge got The Crusher underneath the pulverizer and was able to escape. Beta Raptor then got under from the side and lifted The Crusher from a hole under the wedge, holding it there briefly before flipping The Crusher. The Crusher then clashed head on yet again, but much like in Season 1.0, it got stuck under the spikestrip. Fortunately, Beta Raptor came over and lifted The Crusher to free it from the spikestrip. The Crusher continued to move around, trying to decide which side to charge Beta Raptor with, before getting lifted by Beta Raptor again from the front. For the rest of the match, The Crusher tried to convert into a makeshift thwackbot, swinging and striking Beta Raptor with the corners of its wedge. With 20 seconds left, The Crusher mistakenly ran head on into the spikestrip, getting itself pinned under it again. Fortunately, Beta Raptor came in and rammed into it, freeing it from the spikestrip again. The Crusher got lifted one more time before the match ended. Beta Raptor won on a 30-15 judges' decision, meaning that The Crusher was eliminated from the tournament again.

The Crusher also participated the Lightweight Royal Rumble at the end of the tournament. When the rumble began, The Crusher scooped up Das Bot and got it high centered on its roof. It soon stopped moving in the center of the arena, before accelerating briefly to let Das Bot slide off the top. The Crusher got going again when Shish-ka-bot bumped into it. After some off-camera action, The Crusher tangled with Scrub before running off. After wandering around off-camera, The Crusher piled in with the likes of HammerHead, Mouser Mecha-Catbot, Ziggo, Sallad, and Beta Raptor, where The Crusher backed up and rammed right into Mouser Mecha-Catbot and Sallad. The Crusher backed up again and scooped up Mouser Mecha-Catbot, carrying it over to the spikestrip with Sallad in pursuit. After a bit of off-camera action, The Crusher was seen backing Mouser Mecha-Catbot into the spikestrip and carrying it on its roof. After some more off-camera action, The Crusher drove right under No Tolerance III and then tackled Serial Box Killer, before running right through a dead Toe-Crusher, shoving it aside. After some maneuvering, The Crusher bumped right into Dr. Inferno Jr. and Afterthought. It soon backed up and ran right through Fang and into the spikestrip, before turning around and tackling No Tolerance III and later bumping into Ziggo. After some more off-camera action, as well as ramming HammerHead into the spikestrip, The Crusher scooped up Green Dragon and ran it across the battlebox, placing it down before turning around and stopping next to a mostly immobile No Tolerance III. The Crusher suddenly started moving again and ran right into a crowd of robots consisting of HammerHead, Tentoumushi, Beta Raptor, and Scrap Daddy LW55, pushing aside Tentoumushi and running Beta Raptor into the spikestrip as Cereal Box Killer and Das Bot joined in. The Crusher then pushed Beta Raptor out of camera view and the two bots started dueling off-camera. During their little scuffle, The Crusher got lifted on the front corner by Beta Raptor and lifted onto its back. The Crusher continued dueling with Beta Raptor, ramming head on and getting lifted off the ground multiple times. At one point, The Crusher was lifted off its wheels by Beta Raptor, which suddenly encountered drive issues, before being knocked off the lifting arm with a bump from behind Beta Raptor by Sallad. After a final ram on Beta Raptor with its rear, the time ran out. The Crusher was one of few robots still moving in the end, managing to be among the 4 bots eligible for the crowd vote, but it only got the 3rd loudest cheers, losing out to HammerHead.

Crusher Rumble 3

The Crusher tackles Dr. Inferno Jr. in an attempt to get under

When the rumble began, The Crusher slowly approached the main fray before getting bumped into by Trilobot, running over Reaper's wedge arm, and clashing head on with Sallad, where it got briefly shoved. The Crusher then backed up and charged right into an accumulating pile of robots consisting of, Dr. Inferno Jr., Backlash, Gamma Raptor, Reaper, and Sallad, where it scooped up Backlash from the side. After some off-camera action and a bit of maneuvering, The Crusher ran right into another pile of robots before the camera cut away yet again. After a bit of maneuvering, The Crusher ran into and got under Backlash's left side. After some more off-camera maneuvering, The Crusher came into contact with Gamma Raptor before turning away, then The Crusher tackled Tentoumushi off-camera. The Crusher later ran into a pile of robots before wandering away, running under Herr Gepoünden as it went. After some maneuvering off camera, The Crusher slammed into the rear of Dr. Inferno Jr. and stopped moving. After some off-camera action, The Crusher bumped into Wedge of Doom. Later on, The Crusher bumped into Backlash and clashed with Wedge of Doom, where it got shoved from the left side. After some maneuvering, The Crusher scooped up Backlash from behind and briefly shoved it, before trying to scoop up Dr. Inferno Jr. as well, and failing. After some more off-camera action, The Crusher pushed Mouser Mecha-Catbot onto the entrance ramp, high-centering it, before running into the spikestrip. The Crusher then proceeded to push it back into the main floor as it ran off the entrance ramp. After a bit of maneuvering, The Crusher slowly approached a spinning Ziggo and took a hit with its wedge, spinning it around. The Crusher then shoved aside a dead Gamma Raptor and tackled Dr. Inferno Jr. from the side, but it rode over the skirt, so it instead pushed aside Ziggo as it ran off. After a bit of maneuvering, The Crusher pushed aside a dead Wedge of Doom, before charging at Ziggo and taking a blow that spun it around. After shoving aside an incapacitated wedge of Doom, The Crusher proceeded to scoop up Backlash from the side before the time ran out. Despite being one of the few bots to remain standing in the rumble, it was ineligible for the crowd vote as only Backlash and Ziggo were selected for it, with Ziggo getting the most cheers.

Season 4.0[]

The Crusher vs. Afterthought

Due to its seeding, The Crusher was allowed to skip the preliminary rounds of Season 4.0, where it eventually faced Afterthought. As Afterthought was having driving issues, The Crusher drove itself under the spikestrip and couldn't free itself. Because of this, The Crusher was counted out and Afterthought won by TKO. This meant that The Crusher was eliminated from the tournament again.

The Crusher was repaired in time for the lightweight consolation rumble. When the rumble began, The Crusher ran aimlessly, plowing into Herr Gepounden, UGV Scorpion, and LocoMotion. The Crusher then started pushing a plowless SnowFlake before running off. After some off-camera action, The Crusher bumped into Bulldog and later ran into Dr. Inferno Jr. before running off once more. Afterwards, it rammed into a sit and spinning Herr Gepounden and took a minor shot from an also sit and spinning Scrap Daddy Surplus. After wandering around some more, The Crusher met up with a sit and spinning LocoMotion before turning around and ramming into a sit and spinning Herr Gepounden with its rear, as well as later scooping up and shoving Snowflake. After some off camera action, The Crusher ran into UGV Scorpion again before running off and hitting Skid Mark off camera. After some more off-camera action, The Crusher scooped up Skid Mark and bumped into a dead Bulldog on the spikestrip. Afterwards, The Crusher came across a crippled General Gau and started slamming into it before running off again. The Crusher was then struck on the side by Gamma Raptor and moved aimlessly into the corner before backing up, getting hit by Scrap Daddy Surplus on the way out. The Crusher then continued to run aimlessly, bumping into the likes of a dead Whirligig and Snowflake. After a bit of maneuvering, The Crusher then ran into the spikestrip repeatedly and ran into General Gau while backing up. After some off-camera action, The Crusher pushed a crippled Skid Mark onto the inactive killsaws before running off. After some off camera action, The Crusher took on both LocoMotion and SnowFlake, getting under the former before backing up and pushing it aside as it ran off. Afterwards, The Crusher tackled the barely mobile General Gau once more, giving several bumps. After some maneuvering, The Crusher took on Mouser Mecha-Catbot, where it got hit by its tail several times before backing up, scooping Mouser Mecha-Catbot from the side, and shoving it into the spikestrip. A few seconds after letting Mouser Mecha-Catbot go, the time ran out. The Judges selected The Crusher along with Dr. Inferno Jr. to move on to the Lightweight Royal Rumble.

During the rumble, The Crusher got pushed by Dr. Inferno Jr, but it soon retreated and shoved a recently flipped Slap 'Em Silly into the spikestrip. After some off-camera action, The Crusher came into contact with Tentoumushi before running away and coming into contact with Dr. Inferno Jr. again, getting pushed from the side and the front and trying to push from the rear. After some more off-camera action, The Crusher found itself piled in with Dr. Inferno Jr, Pursuer, and Tentoumushi and smothered by the shell of the latter. The Crusher then shoved a dead Afterthought aside and, following some more off-camera action, challenged Dr. Inferno Jr. by trying to get under from the side. The Crusher then ran circles around Dr. Inferno Jr, followed up by a minor shove that slightly knocked Dr. Inferno Jr back. With Tentoumushi flipped onto its back by Hexy Jr., the rumble came down to just 3 bots. While Hexy Jr. and Dr. Inferno Jr. dueled out, The Crusher rushed in, scooped up Hexy Jr. from behind, and slammed it into the spikestrip. The Crusher then charged head on at the front of Hexy Jr., but got flicked in the air by Hexy Jr.'s flipping arm. The Crusher delivered a couple of slams to Dr. Inferno Jr. before backing out to let Hexy Jr. and Dr. Inferno Jr. duel it out on their own. While The Crusher wandered about, away from the main action, a chant suddenly arose.
"Free Ziggo! Free Ziggo! Free Ziggo!"
— A crowd chant urging the drivers to get Ziggo back in the action
In response to the chants, The Crusher headed over to where Ziggo was stuck and freed Ziggo from the spikestrip. In addition to this, another full-body spinner in Rambite rejoined the battle when it was tipped back onto its wheels off-camera. The Crusher returned to the main fray, where it got flipped upside down by Hexy Jr. and shoved away along with Rambite by Dr. Inferno Jr. After some maneuvering, The Crusher was pushed by Dr. Inferno Jr. to where the flipped Tentoumushi was, and was flipped right side up by Hexy Jr. Afterwards, The Crusher shoved aside the flipped Tentoumushi and ran into the side of Hexy Jr. The Crusher then shoved aside a dead Afterthought before tackling Dr. Inferno Jr. head on and getting run across the arena and into the screw supports, where it got pinned before being let go. Immediately after, The Crusher ran into a dead Low Blow and got high centered. After being freed off camera, The Crusher started pushing Rambite, but got flipped upside down from behind by Hexy Jr. The Crusher continued to run aimlessly until the time ran out. The Crusher survived as one of only 4 robots to remain standing, but it received the least cheers out of the three eligible, losing the crowd vote to Dr. Inferno Jr.
