Drones are a type of unmanned aerial vehicle which sometimes accompany BattleBots competitors during battle. Sometimes known simply as "flying robots", drones were often fitted with flamethrowers or kinetic weaponry which assisted the main robot in battle. They were limited to 10lbs in weight. This was also the case in the 2016 and 2018 Design Rules documents.[1][2]
- "A BattleBot can actually be a group of two or more bots. Each bot must meet the requirements described in this document, but only one of the bots must have a weapon."
- — 2015 BattleBots Design Rules.
