Dreadbot was a heavyweight (later superheavyweight), box-shaped robot built by the Silicon Valley Destruction Company which debuted in Season 2.0 and competed in four seasons of Comedy Central BattleBots.
The first version was a four-wheeled invertible silver rectangle with a pneumatic spike. The version that appeared in every season thereafter was a much flatter box with two static claws and a drill at the back, as well as a unique shuffling mechanism.
In later seasons, a row of saws was added between the claws. This version of Dreadbot was a shufflebot, using two sets of four camshaft-driven "feet" made from polyurethane rubber to move around the arena. This gave Dreadbot an remarkable top speed quoted as 30-40mph top speed, coupled with formidable pushing and ramming power. As well as this, Dreadbot was allowed a weight bonus handed to robots which used alternate means of locomotion other than wheels or tracks. Dreadbot relied on its powerful drive more than its active weapons to win matches, and in theory, had the best of all worlds with regards to weight, speed, strength and power. Dreadbot's 2/5" steel armor proved very tough and durable. However, Dreadbot lost its first battle of Season 3.0 to Mauler 51-50 and was eliminated prematurely.
As a result of rule changes concerning non-wheeled competitors, Dreadbot lost its weight allowance for Seasons 4.0 and 5.0, and had to move up to the superheavyweight class. Dreadbot scored very few wins, and never appeared on TV despite losing to several powerful opponents.
The team also entered with middleweight (later heavyweight) Nemesis and lightweight LocoMotion.
Outside BattleBots[]
The second incarnation of Dreadbot competed in Robot Wars: Extreme Warriors under the name Drillzilla, where it enjoyed more success. Drillzilla won the Tag Team Terror event alongside Tut Tut and also won the Annihilator special after defeating Rippa Raptor in the final.
Despite an early exit from the main US Championship season, Drillzilla's success continued as it qualified through its four-way melee during the Second World Championship, defeating Robot Wars All-Star Firestorm 4 and then Manta, only to be beaten by Razer in the final. This marked one of only two career losses for Drillzilla, as it amassed nine wins outside of that.
The team also added a grabbing claw to the top, and entered Robotica under the name Da Claw. There, it competed against Logoseye and despite losing the Gauntlet round, won the Labyrinth round and qualified for the Fight to the Finish at the end of the episode. It took on Juggerbot 3.0, but was defeated at this stage.

Dreadbot vs. Voltronic Dreadbot's first ever fight was against Voltronic. Voltronic immediately charged at Dreadbot, but Dreadbot fired its pneumatic ram in an attempt to dissuade Voltronic. Voltronic dodged Dreadbot's attacks and plowed under it, lifting Dreadbot off the ground. Dreadbot still retained good traction on the ground despite this and both robots continued to ram into each other. Dreadbot then managed to get a couple good shots in the back and side of Voltronic, but caused only superficial damage. Both robots then drove over the killsaws and Dreadbot received a few holes in its body, but more pushing put Voltronic over the killsaws, after failing to lift Dreadbot onto them. Eventually, Voltronic got a good hold on Dreadbot and placed it under the pulverizer, which made several large dents in Dreadbot's armor. The time ran out and Voltronic won on a dominant 35-10 judges' decision. This meant that Dreadbot was eliminated from the tournament. |
Heavyweight Consolation Rumble Dreadbot also participated the Heavyweight Consolation Rumble at the end of the tournament. At the beginning of the rumble, Dreadbot drove around the arena, extending its spike as it searched for another bot to attack. It eventually attempted to impale Punjar, who was not affected and proceeded quickly to drive away. Dreadbot attempted to intervene in Bigger Brother's flip of Mauler 51-50, placing its spike between the two bots, but caused no effect in the outcome. For the remainder of the rumble, Dreadbot wandered the arena, attacking the torn up plastic shell of M.O.E, after which it eventually ceased movement. Punjar and OverKill were declared the winners of the rumble. |
Season 3.0[] |
Dreadbot vs. Mauler 51-50 Due to previously competing in Season 2.0, Dreadbot was allowed to skip the preliminary rounds of Season 3.0, where it eventually fought Mauler 51-50. This match was an easy victory for Mauler 51-50 as Dreadbot drove forward at full speed, ramming straight into the spikestrip on the opposite side of the BattleBox and stopped moving. Mauler 51-50 took the opportunity to deliver a few blows before Dreadbot was counted out. Mauler 51-50 won the match by KO and Dreadbot was eliminated from the tournament again. |
Season 4.0[] |
Dreadbot vs. The Black Knight Returning for Season 4.0, changes to the weight bonus rules following Son of Whyachi's heavyweight championship win saw Dreadbot bumped up to the superheavyweight division. There, it first took on The Black Knight. The Black Knight's spinner was too slow to damage the ultra-tough Dreadbot, especially since it was a flail-spinner. Dreadbot pushed The Black Knight around the BattleBox and pushed it against the arena wall. The Black Knight escaped the spikestrip, but it could no longer spin and got rammed against the arena wall again. Eventually, The Black Knight got stuck into a corner and its operator tapped out. Dreadbot won the match by KO and advanced to the final preliminary round. |
Dreadbot vs. Gyrax Here, Dreadbot faced Gyrax. Both robots attacked each other in a mad frenzy all throughout the match and there was a lot of aggression. Gyrax rolled right over Dreadbot and banged on it with its flails and Dreadbot pushed Gyrax around. Dreadbot had the advantage as it got several good shoves and slammed Gyrax into the wall and by mainly attacking from its side, it avoided Gyrax's weapons. In the end, the time ran out and Dreadbot won on a 34-11 judges' decision. |
Dreadbot vs. Techno Destructo This win put Dreadbot to the TV rounds, where it faced Techno Destructo. After pushing Techno Destructo onto the killsaws, Dreadbot was pushed into the corner and flipped. Techno Destructo won on a close 23-22 judges' decision and Dreadbot was eliminated from the tournament again. |
Season 5.0[] |
Dreadbot vs. Daisy Cutter Despite reaching the Round of 32 in Season 4.0, Dreadbot had to go through the qualifiers again in Season 5.0. Dreadbot went up against Daisy Cutter in the first preliminary round. Dreadbot won on a 30-15 judges' decision and advanced to the final preliminary round. |
Dreadbot vs. Armageddon Next up for Dreadbot was Armageddon. Little is known about this fight, but Dreadbot again won on a 35-10 judges' decision and advanced to the TV rounds. |
Dreadbot vs. Mad Mer Dreadbot advanced to face Mad Mer in the next round of the competition. Though both bots survived to the end, Mad Mer won on a 31-14 judges' decision and Dreadbot was eliminated from the tournament once again. |
