Dishwasher is a 15lb robot which competed in BattleBots: Metal Mayhem - a high school and college competition held as part of SXSW 2024.
It is a two-wheel drive, invertible robot armed with a wide eggbeater spinner for weaponry. Either side of Dishwasher's spinner are two small forks to get underneath opponents and feed them into its primary weapon. Dishwasher was designed to improve upon Washing Machine, a drum spinner built by Kyle Miller and driven by Placer Robotics.[1]
The robot was built with support from Placer Advanced Robotics and Technology. PART, also known as Placer Robotics, is a non-profit organization specializing in combat robotics. The organization is supporting five competitors for the March 2024 event, including Lunar Eclipse, The Executioner, Not Scott and Slightly Above Average.[2]

Dishwasher vs. Executioner Competing in Group C, Dishwasher's first opponent was Executioner. While Executioner controlled the match, their bottom plate came off early in the fight and the win was given to Dishwasher. |
Dishwasher vs. Thunderstorm (Forfeit) Next up for Dishwasher was another vertical spinner - Thunderstorm. After the fight with Executioner, Dishwasher sustained damage to its internals and wiring that prevented it from passing the safety tests. While it was repaired, it had to forfeit the match against Thunderstorm. |
Dishwasher vs. RGBeater (Forfeit) Dishwasher rounded out its group stage fights with a match against RGBeater. Unfortunately, due to wiring issues, RGBeater was not operational and had to forfeit. |
Dishwasher vs. Competitive Pricing Due to its impressive 2-1 record, Dishwasher was allowed to bypass Round 1 of the knockout tournament. It would eventually face Competitive Pricing in the quarter-finals. Dishwasher won this fight, taking out part of the opponent's drive and later knocking them out. |
Dishwasher vs. Franky Next up for Dishwasher was Franky. Early on in the match, a massive weapon-on-weapon collision sent Dishwasher flying and left it completely immobilized in the corner of the arena. Another hit from Franky sealed its fate and Dishwasher tapped out. Franky took the win in this semi-final clash and Dishwasher was officially eliminated at this stage. |
