Deborah was a middleweight robot built by Team Lost Bearings of Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School which competed in the inaugural BattleBots IQ competition in 2002.
It was a box-shaped, two wheel drive robot armed with a thwacking arm. At the end of the arm was a plate positioned at a 45 degree angle to scoop underneath opponents as it spun in place. Deborah lost its first battle to Green Wave, but advanced through to Round 3 of the loser's bracket before losing out to AXis.
Outside BattleBots[]
The Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School students originally competed in FIRST Robotics, building task-orientated robots. They notably built a robot with grabbing capabilities called 'Lilly of the Valley' which could most 180lb goalposts.
After the 2002 BattleBots IQ competition, various members of Team Lost Bearings and other competing teams signed Deborah's weapon. It was then put on display in an art show called 'Celebrate Art'. Deborah itself would not compete again, and it is unknown if the team returned to combat robotics.
