Deathstar was a heavyweight robot built by Team B.O.B., also known as Russ Robotics, which competed in Season 4.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots.

It used an unique weapon system which was dubbed 'active armor', consisting of four circular saw blades connected by springs to 'clamp' opponents upon making contact with an oncoming opponent. However, Deathstar mainly used the clamping action to drive other robots around and struggled to engage with its saws. Deathstar won two battles in its only season and got to the Round of 64, where it was brutally torn apart by Phrizbee.

The team had previously entered heavyweight B.O.B. in Season 3.0 and entered Son of Bob in the middleweight division of Season 4.0.

Robot History

Season 4.0
Deathstar vs. Black Ops Deathstar's first ever match was against Black Ops. Both robots were hitting each other several times and Deathstar's saws were producing sparks on Black Ops, but it was not doing much damage, even on the surface. Black Ops was having a hard time pushing Deathstar and after getting sawed on for about a minute from Deathstar, Black Ops had a spontaneous failure and stopped moving. Deathstar won by KO and advanced to the final preliminary round.
Deathstar vs. Mr. Bonestripper (Forfeit) Mr. Bonestripper had technical issues and was forced to forfeit. Deathstar won by default and advanced to the TV rounds.
Deathstar vs. Phrizbee Phrizbee rips into Deathstar while it smokes. Phrizbee pushes Deathstar into the pulverizer. Deathstar next faced shell spinner Phrizbee. In this fight, Deathstar started off well, grabbing Phrizbee with the saws before it could spin up to a deadly speed. Things began to go downhill however, when Deathstar drove over the killsaws that cut up one of the springs and then reversed into the pulverizer. One of the motors for Deathstar's saws started smoking after this hit. Phrizbee spun up at this point and tore into Deathstar, sending springs and armor pieces flying. Phrizbee hit Deathstar several times before getting clamped again, but Phrizbee used this as an advantage to push Deathstar toward the pulverizer. Deathstar took several shots as it tried to feebly move away. After being nudged back underneath by Phrizbee, Deathstar slowly escaped and drove into the spikestrip as the time ended. Deathstar was eliminated from the competition on a 37-8 judges' decision.
