Unrelated to the Comedy Central era middleweight of the same name.

Daisy Cutter was a heavyweight robot built by Team Daisy Cutter which competed exclusively in BattleBots World Championship IV.

It is a four-wheeled, box-shaped robot armed with a row of ten single-toothed spinning disks on a long shaft. The drum spinner itself has ten little, single-toothed disks, looking to chew at an opponent's front rather than cause shock damage. One major design flaw concerning Daisy Cutter was its inability to either self-right or run inverted, making it highly vulnerable to flippers, lifters and vertical spinners. The bot's name derives from the air-to-surface bomb of the same name (though sometimes called BLU-82), which was first used by the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Its weapon would flatten entire forests to make space for landing zones for helicopters.[1] However, Daisy Cutter failed to live up to its name sake, grinding to a halt not long into both of its fights and ending the season winless.

Uniquely, it was originally going to use an impeller that was supposed to increase the traction however it ended up being very noisy and they were forced to remove it. In addition to the impeller, Daisy Cutter featured a 50hp drive, powered by custom motors built by a defence contractor.[2] Daisy Cutter became the subject of mild controversy during 2019 season's recording. The team posting a video to their YouTube channel which showed spoilers for three fights prior to the season's premiere, not necessarily even including Daisy Cutter themselves. These were quickly removed as they broke NDA rules, and are no longer accessible.

The team did not return to BattleBots after World Championship IV, with the team stating it would be deconstructed and retired.[3]

Daisy Cutter vs. Deep Six vs. Kingpin

Deep Six Daisy Cutter Kingpin

Daisy Cutter takes the brunt of an attack from Deep Six, which immobilizes both bots.

Daisy Cutter's first fight was a Fight Night rumble against fellow newcomers Deep Six and Kingpin. Televised footage of this battle was relegated to highlight clips shown in the "What Got Cut" segment, aired in Episode 12 of the Discovery US version and Episode 22 of the ITV4 'international' version.

Daisy Cutter found itself in trouble right away as its weapon was destroyed by Deep Six, who toppled itself over, leaving Daisy Cutter and Kingpin to fight. Unfortunately, Daisy Cutter got stuck under the wall near the pulverizer after taking a hit from Kingpin and ramming into the wall. Daisy Cutter then had sparks shaved off from Kingpin's weapon, nearly having its right panel removed as it was being counted out with Deep Six, giving Kingpin the win by KO.

Daisy Cutter vs. Double Jeopardy vs. Foxtrot

Double Jeopardy fires at a high-centered Daisy Cutter.

Daisy Cutter had a second, fully untelevised rumble, this time against Double Jeopardy and Foxtrot. To prepare for the fight, Daisy Cutter changed their top plate to make themselves shorter to avoid the projectiles of Double Jeopardy. With their primary weapon struggling as a result of their last fight, this was primarily a pushing match between the three robots. This was until Double Jeopardy fired one of its shots at Daisy Cutter, who was high centered by Foxtrot. The show struck part of its opponent which said "NDA" on the armor. After getting freed, it was another driving battle until Daisy Cutter found itself in the screws a bit later from Foxtrot, but that drive seemed to have done something to Foxtrot since it wound up in a corner and stayed there for a bit, before a reversal drive onto the drum spinner killed it on the floor. In the final minute of the match, Daisy Cutter ground to a halt on top of a set of killsaws, receiving several cuts underneath. Both bots were counted out and Double Jeopardy won by KO.
