DBC was the name given to a series of middleweight robots built by high school students of Libertyville, Illinois, which competed in five BattleBots IQ events from 2003 until 2007.
Each iteration of the robot had a number added to it to signify that it was a new build. Although images of the original DBC build have been lost to time, what is known is that the original entry picked up a fourth place finish in its debut competition.
The team returned for BattleBots IQ 2004 with DBC2 as a two-part multibot, but failed to land a podium finish with their revised entry.
DBC3 was entered into the following event, BattleBots IQ 2005. After winning its opening battle, DBC3 fell to Green Wave in Round 2. It is then unknown who DBC3 fought in the loser's bracket, but it again did not finish among the top three. For the 2006 competition, the Illinois representatives brought DBC4, but its fights remain undocumented.
In the 2007 event, DBC5 was an invertible, two-wheel drive robot with twin wedges at the front and a high ground clearance at the rear. Video footage exists of it losing to a shell spinner known as The Blender, and falling short against a fellow pushbot in E2V2.
The DBC team were part of a larger team of Illinois-based high school students, some of which also entered SpazTek.
