Not to be confused with the 2016 season of BattleBots on ABC also known as Season 2.
Comedy Central Season 2.0 was the second televised season of BattleBots. It marked the return of robot combat in Las Vegas, filmed at the All-American SportPark after the first televised season was shot in San Francisco.
Bil Dwyer and Sean Salisbury both returned to host the show, and Mark Beiro retained his role introducing robots to the BattleBox ahead of fights. Bill Nye also returned to provide technical analysis on robots during battles. Donna D'Errico was unable to return following the birth of her child, so Heidi Mark became a full-time pit reporter in Season 2.0.
The show retained its format, with competing robots spread across four different weight classes. Season 1.0 Giant Nut winners Minion, Vlad the Impaler and Backlash looked to defend their title during the competition, with Hazard notably absent.
The lightweight division was won by Ziggo this season, defeating defending champion Jim Smentowski and Backlash in the final. The absence of Hazard guaranteed a new middleweight champion, and thwackbot Spaz took out El Diablo to earn the Giant Nut for the first time. Vlad the Impaler fell short of defending their title as Carlo Bertocchini and BioHazard bested them in the final, and Donald Hutson and Diesector won the superheavyweight division, as eventual runner-up Atomic Wedgie shocked the previous season's winner Minion early in the bracket.
