Chainsaws are a weapon type rarely seen in BattleBots, consisting of a powered saw with sharp teeth connected to a chain. Though often used to cut materials such as wood, they have sometimes been used on combat robots against metal and composite fiber materials.
Design and History[]
Throughout the history of BattleBots, chainsaws have been used in a variety of ways. They have been mounted both vertically to cut downward, as well as horizontally to slice sideways. In the case of Pain Saw, they have also been used to lift opponents onto a wedge-shaped front.
Typically, chainsaws are connected directly to a robot's weapon system without much in the way of modification. Doomba, for example, not only includes the saw itself but the housing and carrying handle too.

Advantages[]
- Chainsaws are easy to find and include for a robot
- They can end a fight quickly by severing wheels, tracks and exposed aerials, which will immobilize the opponent.
- Chainsaws can also cut through plastic, as some robots like KillerHurtz are made out of it.
- They rarely need to be built from scratch.
Disadvantages[]
- Chainsaws weren't exactly designed to slice through metal, and tend to scratch it at best or jam themselves from touching it at worst.
- They cannot be customized like other weapons, and must be built into a robot.
- The chain can come off, disabling the weapon.
