Chains Addiction was a heavyweight robot built by The Bad Seeds which competed in Season 4.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was a pink and green shell spinner robot armed with four swinging chains with steel blocks attached to the ends which were eventually removed for unknown reasons. These chains could be spun up to 4,000rpm, with a maximum tip speed of up to 480mph according to the team. The outside shell was also made of ¼" steel plate.[1] Despite the potent statistics for its weapon, Chains Addition enjoyed limited success, losing its first and only match against M.O.E..
The team that built Chains Addiction also built a superheavyweight called GoPostal which competed in Season 3.0.
The name is most likely a pun of Jane's Addiction, an American rock band. The team name is also most likely a reference to fellow rock band, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds.

Chains Addiction vs. M.O.E. Chains Addiction's debut match was a preliminary head-to-head against M.O.E., which now featured a spinning bar at the front. From the outset, M.O.E proved more combative, scoring one slow hit with its blade, before the fight was reduced to a pushing and shoving match. According to Neal Muzzy, M.O.E.'s, the team believed that there was a low charge on the weapon motor's batteries (due to an overly long technical inspection spin-down test right before the match), providing only enough power for this battle.Citation? Both competitors survived to a judges' decision which ruled 38-7 against Chains Addiction, eliminating it from the heavyweight division. |
