Cannibal was a heavyweight applicant from Team ELK, which was designed to compete in BattleBots World Championship VI.
It was a two-wheel drive wedge-shaped robot armed with an asymmetric 26" diameter bar spinner on the face of the wedge, mounted at an angle and capable of spinning up to the 250 mph tip speed limit. Cannibal sported a striking pink and black color scheme, a feature which is consistent between many of Team ELK's robots.
Team ELK previously applied for World Championship V with a near-identical robot in design and appearance under the name Valhalla Express, but withdrew their application due to time and financial concerns.[1]
Team captain Luke Faulkingham instead paired up with Team OuiOui and Pardon My French for the same season, but they themselves also withdrew with filming postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under the name Cannibal, Team ELK again confirmed their application for World Championship VI in May 2021, but announced their withdrawal due to time constraints just two months later. Although the team alluded to using this time to iron out issues and perfect the heavyweight build, it is not known whether the team applied for World Championship VII or any future competitions.
- "This isn’t the end for Cannibal though, we plan to start building the bot in the coming months, giving us plenty of time to get the bot built right and tested properly."
- — Team ELK confirm their withdrawal on Facebook.
Though Pardon My French was accepted to compete in the 2021 competition of BattleBots, Luke Faulkingham was not listed as a teammate on the BattleBots website.
