Caliban was a middleweight robot built by Team WhoopAss which competed in three seasons of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was an invertible, box-shaped robot armed with eight static titanium blades so the robot could deal damage as it spun in place.
Caliban performed decently in competition, reaching the Round of 64 in Season 4.0. The team behind it also competed with the more successful HexaDecimator.

Caliban vs. SMD Caliban's first match in Season 3.0 was against SMD. SMD won the fight by KO at 1:47 and Caliban was eliminated from the tournament. |

Caliban vs. Slap Happy Caliban's first match in Season 4.0 was against Slap Happy. Both robots circled each other and did a bit of hitting and pushing. Later, Caliban became more aggressive. Caliban made use of its lower profile and faster spin speed, getting in underneath Slap Happy multiple times. The big hits from Caliban began to take their toll on Slap Happy as the fight progressed. In the end, the time ran out and Caliban won the fight on a 31-14 judges' decision. This win put Caliban to the final preliminary round, where it faced Maddgoth. |
Caliban vs. Maddgoth In the beginning, Caliban got under Maddgoth and pushed it around the BattleBox and later against the spikestrip. Both robots maneuvered and pushed each other for a while. Eventually, Maddgoth maneuvered itself against the arena wall. Caliban pushed Maddgoth against the spikestrip again and Maddgoth was now stuck. It was being counted out and Caliban won the fight by KO. This win put Caliban to the TV rounds, where it faced 2925 Jack Rabbit. |
Caliban vs. 2925 Jack Rabbit In the beginning, 2925 Jack Rabbit went straight at Caliban and hitting it straight on. This hit caused the right drive chain to come off. After 2925 Jack Rabbit was hitting Caliban a few more times, Caliban got caught on the entrance ramp and was counted out. 2925 Jack Rabbit won the fight by TKO and Caliban was eliminated from the tournament. |
