CE Robots are an active BattleBots team who have competed in every season since World Championship III. They are best known for their heavyweight entry and fan favorite Kraken.

Made up of various members of the Spurk family, CE Robots have grown since their first events in 2003. They originally applied for World Championship II in 2016 with an unspecified design called Ogre, but were not selected to compete.[1]

They have entered Kraken into each BattleBots competition since 2018 with limited success. The team made the Round of 32 during World Championship V before being defeated by Jamison Go and SawBlaze - their career best finish in a season to date.

Outside BattleBots[]

The team entered the 2017 and 2018 Robot Ruckus events at Orlando Maker Faire with 220lb heavyweight Flailure to Launch. Kraken also competed in these events under the name Krackin'.

Previously, the team had competed in various events with the four-wheel drive invertible ramming robot 4-Letter Word. This also inspired the team's beetleweight, 3-Letter Word. The team also competed with heavyweight Old Iron at the Southeast Combot Championship, although much of this design is not known at this time.

Matt Spurk[]

Matt Spurk has captained and driven Kraken in each of its appearances. Outside of BattleBots, he has designed and built over 20 different combat robots of various weight classes. These include Black and Decker Robot Wrecker, which was inspired by Jim Smentowski's iconic heavyweight Nightmare, as well as Big Ol' Blade.[2]

His first build was actually a heavyweight called 4-Letter-Word, which Matt Spurk still owns and competed with in Robot Ruckus events in Orlando up until building Kraken.[3] Spurk also built a beetleweight called 3-Letter Word.
