Bucktooth Burl was a heavyweight robot built by The Eh Team which competed in BattleBots World Championship II.

It was armed with a spinning drum, made by sandwiching multiple disks together, and was the smallest robots in the competition, designed to look and function like a beaver. Bucktooth Burl was unique as its bespoke wheels were formed from several thin layers of rubber fitted together, as opposed to a single hunk of rubber, with the idea that this would improve their durability. However, it did not do well in competition, as it lost in its first match to Chrome Fly and then lost a rumble against DeathRoll and Skorpios, finishing the season winless. Due to the compact shape of the bot, the gear reduction from its Etek motors was compromised, contributing to its drive issues.

"We're not really here designing the best robot... We're designing the best robot for TV. And we're Canadian, so how do we get that across? Well, a beaver just kind of made sense."
— Julia Chernushevich on the inspiration for Bucktooth Burl

The Eh Team is a direct reference to The A-Team, while also being a tongue-in-cheek nod to the Canadian stereotype.

Although Bucktooth Burl did not return for World Championship III, The Eh Team's leader, Julia Chernushevich returned as a member of Red Devil's team, as well as a team member for Marvin for the 2019 season. She would originally plan to return once again for the World Championship V with a brand new robot of her own, Ferocity, a dragon-themed bot armed with a powerful spinner on a rotating turret. However, work on the bot was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and she instead reunited with the Ruckers to join DUCK! for the 2021 season. She is currently part of Team HyperShock.

Bucktooth Burl now resides with team member Albert La, largely intact from its BattleBots appearances, but lacks electronics.

Chrome Fly vs. Bucktooth Burl

Bucktooth Burl's BattleBots debut came against a fellow rookie in Chrome Fly.

Chrome Fly's spinning blade comes off.

Although Bucktooth Burl was unable to get its weapon working properly, the first impact between the bots saw one of Chrome Fly's spinning bars fly off, and the other stopped working shortly after.

Both robots engage in a pushing match.

Now reduced to a pushing fight, Chrome Fly was shoved against the arena wall by Bucktooth Burl, which effectively took Team Ludicrous' drone out of the picture. The Canadian robot started shoving Chrome Fly towards the arena wall, but began experiencing issues with its left-side drive.

Chrome Fly charged at Bucktooth Burl, which resorted to spinning on the spot. Bucktooth Burl started smoking towards the end of the match, but time ran out with both robots still mobile.

Despite its blades breaking, Chrome Fly took the unanimous judges' decision. Bucktooth Burl was not selected to be a wildcard, meaning it was eliminated from the championship tournament.

Bucktooth Burl vs. Skorpios vs. DeathRoll (Exhibition)

Bucktooth Burl returned for an exhibition rumble with Skorpios and DeathRoll at the end of the tournament.

Skorpios slices DeathRoll's tail as Bucktooth Burl approaches.

The Canadian bot began by driving into the Australian DeathRoll, which led with its tail. Its spinner made contact but failed to cause meaningful damage as Skorpios was attacked by the arena's hellraisers. Bucktooth Burl drove into DeathRoll's tail again, which made way as it instead slammed into the front plow of Skorpios. The Offbeat Robotics machine then sliced into Bucktooth Burl's left wheel, cutting away part of its tread.

Skorpios turned its attention to DeathRoll, allowing Bucktooth Burl to drive into the rear of Skorpios before all three robots moved the fight to the corner of the BattleBox to escape the hellraisers. Sparks began to fly as Skorpios brought down its saw for a second time, but this attack was abruptly halted as DeathRoll's disk struck the side of Skorpios.

DeathRoll then dealt another punch to Skorpios as Bucktooth Burl spun in place, stopping suddenly on top of the hellraiser panels due to radio interference. Skorpios approached, lowering its arm to cut and grind against the sloped back plate of Julia Chernushevich's robot. DeathRoll and Skorpios continued to fight alone until Bucktooth Burl returned to life, forcing its way between both opponents and striking the left flank of the Australian bot. Skorpios then charged at DeathRoll, lifting its decorative shell away before the onrushing Bucktooth Burl caused it to become high-centered on its own tail against the arena wall.

Bucktooth Burl was shoved across the arena by Skorpios, shedding more of its tires. Skorpios itself suffered damage in this sequence of attacks, losing the central plate for its front plow and buckling its cutting blade. It fled to attack the incapacitated DeathRoll and was promptly followed by Bucktooth Burl - the combined effort from both robots freeing DeathRoll then flipping it over.

Now past the 1:30 mark, Skorpios tried to pin Bucktooth Burl against their inverted opponent. Its articulating saw could now only lean limply atop Bucktooth Burl, seemingly unable to spin or retract to an upright position. Skorpios pushed The Eh Team's entry back towards the screws, causing more of its tread to litter the BattleBox, before taking it to the opposite corner. Here, Bucktooth Burl stopped moving as its radio interference issues persisted.

In the closing moments, Skorpios slammed into Bucktooth Burl before returning to Team DeathRoll's bot, then fleeing to attack the beaver-themed bot one final time. According to the BattleBots website, Skorpios won by double knockout in what was Bucktooth Burl's final fight.[1]
