Brazil Wheels are a kind of solid, vulcanized rubber wheel which have been popularized within BattleBots as a result of their success in the Brazilian combat robotics scene. They were introduced to BattleBots by Team Uai!rrior, who have used them on Black Dragon since their debut season.
Although a handful of competitors such as Copperhead and Retrograde have previously made use of custom-molded urethane wheels, these are not the same as Brazil wheels.
Design and History[]
Brazil wheels are made from a single hunk of thick, toughened rubber.
Without needing any form of tread to attach to the outside of the wheel and with rubber being notorious for its ability to absorb impacts, they are renowned for their durability and effectively work as additional armor. However, Brazil wheels are considerably heavier than more traditional options, and more expensive too.
Although first seen and produced within the South American combat robotics scene, they have since been adopted by other teams. Claw Viper, Malice, Whiplash and SawBlaze are several examples of US-based BattleBots robots which have adopted Brazil wheels since their respective debuts, often made by Team Uai!rrior.
