Bovine Intervention was a middleweight robot built by Team Mad Cow which competed in Season 5.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots. It was a wedge robot painted to look like a cow with no weapons except two spikes on each side of the robot. It decently in competition winning two matches before losing to BravePart. Bovine Intervention was built in the span of four weeks, very little time to complete a 120-pound robot.
The team that built Bovine Intervention also built lightweight Mad Cow. After BattleBots, Bovine Intervention was sold to Team Lunch Money who renamed it Auction Block.
Its name may be a pun on divine intervention.
After Battlebots, Auction Block competed in Steel Conflict where it did well and beat Hazard.
Robot History[]
Season 5.0[]
Bovine's first preliminary match in Season 5.0 was against Rock-Hard. When the match began, both robots traded blows before Bovine Intervention got under Rock Hard and slammed it into the spike strip. Rock Hard tried to fight back but Bovine Intervention took a few more slams into the spike strip instead. With thirty seconds left, Bovine Intervention was much slower than it had been before as it seemed to be running out of battery power. However, it made it to a judges decision. The judges awarded a 31-14 decision to Bovine Intervention, allowing it to move on to the next preliminary round where it faced Bottom Dweller.
Bovine Intervention's next preliminary bout was against Bottom Dweller. At one point in the match, Bovine Intervention was pushed by Bottom Dweller into the spike strip before Bovine Intervention returned the favor a few times. Both robots also got stuck on the entrance ramps but were able to get free. Bovine Intervention was also having driving issues due to the new BattlePacks batteries installed to replace the ones from the previous fight that weren't holding up. This caused Bovine Intervention to end up driving into the wall before time ran out. The judges awarded Bovine Intervention a 26-19 victory to advance to the final preliminary round, where it faced BravePart. BravePart won on a close 25-20 judges' decision, eliminating Bovine Intervention from the competition.

Outside BattleBots[]
Shortly after BattleBots ended, Auction Block competed in the inaugural Steel Conflict. Its most notorious moment came when it was pitted against 3-time BattleBots champion Hazard in the loser's bracket final. In preparation for the battle, Auction Block was fitted with a detached hinged wedge borrowed from Max Wedge (Hazard's previously fallen opponent) on top of its own wedge. This tactic proved successful, as the bolted-on wedge was able to shield Auction Block from Hazard's spinning bar while Auction Block shoved it around, eventually pushing it into the pit for the win. Overall, it performed exceptionally well, managing to place third after beating the likes of Bot Ugly and Oh Debsy and losing to runner up Psychotron and eventual champion Huggy Bear.
