My MicroBots - Dizzy Rascal

This is Dizzy Rascal, my first attempt at a sit-and-spin bot. It has a swinging horizontal pick-axe and originally looked similar to Scrub and works in a similar to Bait. I have since upgraded it with a rear flipping wedge and a shorter, wider body and a smaller pair of wheels.

My MicroBots - Flippasaurus (a.k.a Flippy)

This is Flippasaurus (also known as Flippy), by far the largest LEGO robot I have ever built, it is almost as large and wide as my K'NEX Bots Darkness Devil and Insanity. It is largely based off of Diesector, specifically the version that fought Final Destiny and Dreadnought which is why it only has the jaws and the rear plough for now. I have yet to come up with a way of building side-hammers but the jaws also double as a flipper and the upper jaw conceals a set of teeth on its underside.

My MicroBots - Yellow Peril

This is Yellow Peril and given how long it has taken me to design and build it before finally deciding I was satisfied with it, the name suits it. The vertical spinner is actually at the front of the robot and the front-hinged flipper is only there because it was the only way I could fit a flipper that could also successfully act as a srimech. The flipper is expendable though as without it, the robot can run both ways up. The vertical spinner was originally horizontal with a smaller disc on top for attacking when the robot was flipped over but I thought this made it look too much like a smaller version of the original Rampant (although I will admit that was the intention), hence why Yellow Peril has a vertical fly-wheel. Having tried ill-fatedl…

My MicroBots - VBF2

This is VBF2, which stands for Vampire Bat Fangs, (originally just Vampire Bat) so named because it is mostly black and has a pair of static wings that prevent it from getting stuck on its side and an extended front scoop system. The spinning blade is there because the front scoop system looked boring without it. The axe was originally a lifting arm similar to Toro, with the wings attached for self-righting but that made it hard to distinguish which end was the front and which was the back. The wheels were originally at the front as well but I switched them to the rear so that I could install the front scoop system. The wheels and internal construction have since been strengthened and revised. Vampire Bat has lost its ineffective front blade,…

My MicroBots - Tyrannical Leader

This is Tyrannical Leader (originally named Grande Tyrant) and this MicroBot is special as it was the first one I built completely from scratch. Grande Tyrant originally had 4 small wheels but now it has two small ones and two big ones. It briefly had only three small wheels but this made it hard to balance. The lifter was originally designed to look like Mortis but I modified it into a scoop to make it more effective. Grande Tyrant has always had a pair of static arms attached to its flipper to help it to self-right when it is flipped on its side. The chassis and body have had to be strengthened several times due to weak and vulnerable construction. Grande Tyrant now has smaller wheels that are more secure and attached to a lower mounted rea…

My MicroBots - Two-Pronged Attack

This is Two-Pronged Attack although when I first built it, it was originally called Speedy and it had a much smaller lifter and a rear-mounted srimech which I briefly redesigned as a rear-mounted axe. The lifter originally only featured the front wedge/scoop until I attached a pair of prongs (Hence the renaming) and redesigned the lifter so that it was large enough to act as a srimech as well as a weapon. The chassis was the awkward part, especially when it came to redesigning it, I had to extend the front axle so that the front wheels could operate properly. Two-Pronged Attack now has a stronger, less bulky and lower pronounced flipper and stronger, redesigned axles and internal construction. The addition of Aries with its extremely low ground…

My MicroBots - Turbo Prod

This is Turbo Prod (originally named Turbo Prop), it has a top-mounted 3-bladed spinner like former Heavyweight Champion Son of Whyachi and now has a pair of static prongs for ramming incase the spinner gets knocked out and a protective rim around the wheels. It originally had 4 blades that were relatively small as the ones I originally intended to use were far too long. The blades were also mounted higher than I originally intended as they were originally too low to accommodate a decent pair of wheels underneath. Trying to get the balance of the blades right and attaching them to the rest of the robot both proved to be highly difficult. Turbo Prop originally had two wheels that have a steering system, allowing it to turn easily and increase i…

My MicroBots - Toe-Rag

This is Toe-Rag, a thwackbot with a vertical spinner that partially compromises FlatlineD Destroyer's old axe, it is the younger sibling of Nutcase and the middle child of the thwackbot thweesome. Its weapon was originally a pick-axe until I converted the axe into a spinning blade. Toe-Rag has since had the larger middle wheel removed so that its younger brother Pendulum can have a larger pair of wheels. Toe-Rag also now has support frames on the top and bottom like Nutcase but these ones do not require extra wheels. It recently won a practice annihilator against Nutcase, Pendulum, Goliath Frog, Lobster and Turbo Prop.

My MicroBots - Speed Gap

This is Speed Gap (previously called Speed Demon and SUPER Speed Demon) which has now had the entire front static prong assembly removed. It originally had a simple rear-hinged lifting arm as an alternative to prongs or a scoop and smaller wheels. Its lifting arm has since been shortened as it was proving too long to be effective and now has two prongs at the end and larger wheels. The static prong assembly has had to be modified several times to leave a reasonable amount of room for the lifting arm and has had to be strengthened so that it does not get ripped off or torn apart so easily. Speed Demon's flipper has been redesigned and extended and can now get under opponents a lot easier.

My MicroBots - Smasher

This is Smasher and it may look like Razer at first glance but it is totally different. The side-mounted wings are static and prevent the robot from getting stuck on its side and the srimech consists of th two black springs mounted at the rear. I did try redesigning the srimech as a rear-mounted axe but the springs made it ineffective in this form so I just left it as a pair of self-righting arms. Smasher also only has two wheels. It now has a grey claw in place of the original black version. There is very little of Smasher to damage or grab hold of and its front scoop makes it easy for Smasher to get underneath its opponents. It's claw is also very powerful and is capable of tearing my other MicroBots in half as it did to Crusher Deluxe in t…

My MicroBots - Slicasaurus

This is Slicasaurus (a.k.a Slicy) , a cross between Nightmare and a pterodactyl. It now has a rear-mounted srimech but it was not as easy to build as it looks as at first, the weapon was just a spinning bar and was operated by a series of cogs linking it to the right-front wheel in a similar manner to Rampant but this reduced its effectiveness and made the robot an easy target for flippers and axes so the cogs have been removed. The great big wings prevent side-stranding. It is my widest and one of my tallest robots so far and my 2nd attempt at a vertical spinner after Cutting Edge. Early testing has indicated that Slicasaurus is not to be underestimated and is one of my most destructive robots, alongside Smasher, FlatlineD Destroyer and Vampire Bat …

My MicroBots - S.A.K

This is S.A.K, which stands for Swiss Army Knife, a lean, mean, green Micro fighting machine. It was originally called MINI SHIFTER and S.A.K was its nickname but I changed it to the latter so that it does not keep getting mixed up with MEGA Scooper or misread as a swear word. The original version of S.A.K was a fragile, frail, failed experiment as it was so easy to tear apart so I took it completely to pieces and rebuilt it in its current box-wedge form with a two-pronged lifter and axe combination attached although at first, the axe was mounted further forward than it is now. The pull-back motor at the rear was the main problem at first as the kit used in construction required it to be positioned at an angle which made constructing the chassis v…

My MicroBots - Running RampANT

This is Running RampANT (Originally just Rampant), which only needed an axle and a pair of wheels. There was a smaller third wheel operating the disc underneath. Rampant did not require much in the way of improvements but has received some nonetheless. I have since redesigned it as a vertical spinner as well as renamed it. It has lost its kinetically powered weaponry function but this has increased its effectiveness and its manoeuvrability. The new design is impossible to side-strand and can run either way up, using its weapon as locomotion. Running RampANT now has an extended frame around the front and sides with a pair of static arms either side so that the weapon cannot be ripped off and so that it maintains its inability to be side-strand…

My MicroBots - Pendulum

This is Pendulum, a thwackbot with a knife blade, inspired by Overkill. It is the youngest of the thwackbot thweesome that also compromises Nutcase and Toe-Rag. To increase the attack potential of the weapon (or more to the point, so that it goes down lower), Pendulum has been fitted with a larger pair of wheels and therefore no longer requires propping up as it is no longer possible for it to beach itself on its weapon. The weapon is also more securely attached than it was originally.

My MicroBots - Nutcase

This is Nutcase, a thwackbot with a vertical spinner that is supported by a spare wheel that I've had in my possession for years. The version you can see here is actually the 2nd version because the original had a much larger spare wheel (one of which is now one half of Pendulum's locomotion) supporting the weapon but it was too large and too wide for the spinner to remain secure properly so that is why it has the smaller wheel now. The upward and downward facing frames have been through several configurations before I was satisfied with them. It has two younger brothers called Toe-Rag and Pendulum and collectively, they make up the thwackbot thweesome. Nutcase now has six wheels, the main ones and four smaller ones attached to the support frames…

My MicroBots - MEGA Scooper

This is MEGA Scooper, a giant amongst my MicroBots or at least it was when I first built it as it towered above the MicroBots I had at the time (Levitator, Crusher Deluxe and Two-Pronged Attack). It originally had four large wheels and a steering system driving the front wheels. This made it look awfully large, bulky and cumbersome so I removed the front wheels and the steering system completely. I then tried experimenting with just two large rear wheels an then with two small front wheels and the large rear wheels and finally decided that it looked better with just two small wheels. MEGA Scooper originally had a srimech but I mounted the scoop further back to negate the need for a srimech and fitted a pair of 'ears' either side to prevent the…

My MicroBots - Levitator

This is Levitator, which was originally armed with a manually-operated pair of prongs but this was very slow to operate and reduced its effectiveness, especially when it came to self-righting so I reattached the prongs to the front of the robot and fitted a small axe at the rear. I still was not satisfied with Levitator in this form as it was still struggling to self-right so I removed the axe and rebuilt the prongs into the current front wedge/scoop weapon. Levitator originally ran on tracks which did not work on flat surfaces and neither did simply removing the tracks and leaving the cogs on as wheels. A lack of small wheels at the time meant Levitator had just one small wheel at the front and the two large wheels at the rear. It now has …

My MicroBots - Insanity

This is Insanity, inspired by Beta. The axe is so powerful, it has had to strengthened many times during the design and build process so that it does not keep snapping off. I have worked very hard to achieve this goal. I have made the axe arm and head longer and bigger as well as stronger and more secure which at least makes it powerful enough to destroy opponents without self-destructing.

My MicroBots - Hunk of Junk

This is Hunk of Junk but that is not to say that I am not satisfied with it. It got its name because I built it out of whatever was left of the pieces from the kit I used to build Brutal Destruction. What I managed to come up with was a make-shift box-wedge shaped creation with two large wheels at the rear and a scoop at the front as its weapon. The blades of the scoop have since been re-positioned and the front end and internal construction have been strengthened. Hunk of Junk also now has smaller wheels and a stronger axle. Hunk of Junk has also proven capable of self-righting without the side-wings so they have been removed.

My MicroBots - Horror Hotrod Reborn

This is Horror Hotrod Reborn (originally just Horror Hotrod), mainly because at first, it was a hotrod and all it really required was a repositioning of the rear wheels to lower the ground clearance as the lifting prongs were constructed using rods and links. The pronged frames at the sides were to keep the robot upright when attacked from those positions. The front wedge with the lifting prongs is now much bigger and higher as the front and bottom ends of the chassis are stronger and more secure as are the axles. Horror Hotrod has completely redesigned and rebuilt. As was the case with S.A.K, the pull-back motor was positioned at an awkward angle, making the rest of the construction difficult but now the motor has been re-positioned so that H…

My MicroBots - Goliath Frog 2

This is Goliath Frog 2, a MicroBot that is a green box-wedge shape similar to Aries Advanced but smaller. It has two wheels at the back and a rear-hinged flipper at the front. It was my smallest MicroBot until I built Turbo Prop. It slightly resembles Bad Attitude. Taking a decent photograph of it has been as big a nightmare as perfecting it has. The robot now has a flatter base so that the flipper can be fully withdrawn and is more wedge shaped. It also has had some lighter pieces replaced with darker ones so that it is easier to photograph. The flipper has been extended and repositioned so that it is now lower and flatter, hence the GF2 designation.

My MicroBots - FlatlineD Destroyer

This is FlatlineD Destroyer (Originally named StreamlineD Destroyer) the end result of stripping an F1 Car right down to the chassis. I originally intended the robot to have a lifter but that experiment did not work very well so I decided on a pick-axe. Originally, StreamlineD Destroyer had four wheels but this made it look too bulky for my liking so I shortened the rear axle and removed the front wheels completely. However, this made it prone to getting stuck on its side and it now has a four-pronged, rear-hinged external lifter to prevent immobilization from side-on attacks. The axe and chassis have since been revised.  StreamlineD Destroyer now has a larger, much more powerful axe, even more so than the one on Vampire Bat Fangs. The axe is …

My MicroBots - Darkness Devil

This is Darkness Devil (originally named Deus Ex Machina). It is a box-wedge shaped robot with a rear hinged flipper. It is powerful and can't be side-stranded and it dwarfs my other MicroBots significantly but they can still match it for power and brute strength, even the smallest of my MicroBots like Crusher Deluxe and Levitator can launch it right over onto its back and send it some distance at the same time. It can also be grabbed by S.A.K and hooked by Two-Pronged Attack and even little Aries can overpower it! The robot was designed using the rolling chassis from a 4-by-4 truck and has taken a lot of perfecting. It was originally intended to have a front-hinged flipper but has ended up with a rear-hinged flipper. The creation of Insanity only serve…

My MicroBots - CE Bison

This is CE Bison (originally named Cutting Edge), built from the chassis of a motorbike with the wheels re-positioned at the sides. Unfortunately, this made it very heavy and cumbersome and easy to topple over. The wheels were originally only attached to the body work which was easy to tear off (and still is), taking the wheels with it so I redesigned the wheels so that they had an axle. The extended static arm was very narrow, making construction and mounting of the blade very difficult. The blade was originally a cog with spare parts as makeshift teeth that came off very easily. I redesigned the weapon mount using parts from a Chinook Helicopter and used the rotor-blades for the weapon itself. I originally intended to use just one of the ro…

My MicroBots - CD Ultimate

This is CD Ultimate (Originally named Crusher Deluxe), my first ever MicroBot and consequently it has had more modifications than any of the others. It was just a mini F1 car at first and I first experimented with making it into a MicroBot by redesigning the front wing assembly as a small lifter. Since then the lifter has been modified into a rear-mounted lifting arm that has been strengthened and modified countless times now and has even had to be mounted higher and further back than it was originally to make it more effective. The rear spoiler has also been redesigned and strengthened several times and now the rear end has undergone a re-design so that it is a lot stronger and less vulnerable to being attacked. The addition of Aries means I …

My MicroBots - Brutal Destruction

This is Brutal Destruction. It was originally a tractor with rear retracting loppers attached. I had to modify the loppers and their mounts so that only the blades were still moveable while everything else remained static then I removed the roof and front end of the tractor so that only the rear end of the chassis remained. The right rear wheel operates the loppers and trying to maintain this function was very difficult at first and the result was an axle that was too long and too weak to handle such a heavy and complicated weapon and machine. Brutal Destruction also could not run either way up despite the enormous wheels so I added a rear-mounted axe as a srimech. I have sinced strengthened the chassis and weapon system so that it does not…

My MicroBots - Bionic Lobster

This is Bionic Lobster (originally just Lobster), an experimental MicroBot which is my first attempt at a horizontal crusher. It now has a secondary weapon added on in case one of the claws comes off and also to act as a srimech. Due to concern that the new weapon mount is too short, I intend to give Bionic Lobster interchangeable weaponry. I have tried experimenting with a pair of Gali-claws as one example of Bionic Lobster's interchangeable weaponry and they seem to function better as grabbers rather than crushers as they have proven to be rather spindly and fragile when trying to perform the latter function and also have a tendency to get caught on opponents. I also intend to experiment with fitting a lifter to the robot. I have since manag…

My MicroBots - A.W.2.H

This is A.W.2.H, which stands for Accident Waiting To Happen. It is a very basic box-shaped robot with two wheels and a rear-hinged flipper that utilizes the pre-built lifting mechanism from a mini forklift truck that also provided the main body for Turbo Prop. I have since had to modify the underside of A.W.2.H with a wedged underside rather than a flat one as it was scraping my coffee table.

My MicroBots - Aries Advanced

This is Aries Advanced (originally just Aries) but that is nothing to do with its name being my star-sign, it is because it is a rammer though it also has a lifter like The Probe. It has proven to be so unbelievably fast and maneuverable, not to mention very low and therefore, difficult to get under. It is also very hard to penetrate with crushers as I have tried pitting it against Smasher and it basically self-destructed but has proven vulnerable to repetitive blows from Vampire Bat Fangs' and FlatlineD Destroyer's new axes. I have had to redesign Crusher Deluxe, Two-Pronged Attack and S.A.K with scoops rather than flippers just so that they have a fair chance of beating Aries. The robot also has a pair of lifting prongs to help it get underneath opp…

Something we should do?

I've been thinking, in order to make all the pages seem neater I think the featured image at the top of the page, in the categories and on the bottom where it says "read more" should be the robot's most recognisable form, the version everyone remembers. This is how it would theoretically look like:

  • Deadblow - Season 2.0
  • Complete Control - Season 4.0
  • Son of Whyachi - Season 3.0
  • M.O.E. - Season 4.0
  • Voltronic - Season 2.0
  • SABotage - Season 4.0

http://buildersdb.com/botpics/306.jpg

A middleweight multibot named Rabid Javelinas. It competed in two events after BattleBots.

Now see this:

Look almost the same, right?

Team's link on the BuildersDB is this:

http://www.robotpower.com/

which matches the stickers on the table next to the bot. Coincidence? I think not.

Now if only we knew what its name was for 5.0...

Name of robots

If anyone put's a link to OUCH!!'s page, put it all in capital letters.

This for the person who keeps on linking for Grasshopper to The Swarm's page. The original Locust competed in 2009 as Grasshopper.

Could we do something like this?

http://robotwars.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:Series_3_Audited_Heat_A

Basically, it's what would happen if the robots drew against different opponents rather than the ones they actually fought. Season 1.0 wouldn't take too much time, and maybe 2.0 aswell. Fights are won by amount of votes, along with a reason for each vote.
