BladeSpinner was a heavyweight robot owned by Team Killulator Robotics which fought in the 2004 BattleBots NPC Charity Open.
It was a multi-colored, box-shaped robot armed with an overhead spinning bar. After initially receiving a bye in the heavyweight division, BladeSpinner lost to Corporal Punishment, but redeemed itself with two wins in the Loser's Bracket against Botknocker-19 and Warrior respectively. BladeSpinner was ultimately eliminated following a second loss to Verbal Abuse, finishing the NPC Charity Open with an equal 2-2 record.[1][2][3]
BladeSpinner was originally built by Team Robot Dojo under the name Propeller-Head, which reached the Grand Final of Season 2 of Robot Wars: Extreme Warriors. It also won the Ultimate Mayhem side event in the one-off series Nickelodeon Robot Wars.
In turn, Propeller-Head's design was an improved variant of Team Robot Dojo's Comedy Central Season 4.0 entry Agitator, which would in turn closely resemble its Robot Wars counterpart by the time of its Season 5.0 run.[4]
The team later made an antweight version named BladeSpinner Jr., though the extent of its success is unknown. Following its retirement, the robot was kept in storage, where it remains to this day.[5]

BladeSpinner vs. Corporal Punishment BladeSpinner's first fight came against Corporal Punishment. Immediately, Corporal Punishment charged to the center of the arena, awaiting its opponent to spin up. Corporal Punishment led with its rear and managed to buckle the bar of BladeSpinner on impact, taking very little damage in return. BladeSpinner attempted to spin its bar again in bursts, but it was no longer effective and was a non-factor for the remainder of the fight. As Corporal Punishment took advantage of its superior drive power and optimized design for pushing, BladeSpinner ultimately lost by judges' decision and fell into the Loser's Bracket. |
BladeSpinner vs. Botknocker-19 BladeSpinner's second opponent was Botknocker-19. Slow out of its square, Botknocker-19 failed to defend itself as BladeSpinner's bar attacked it early on. BladeSpinner slowed its weapon as Botknocker-19 gently spun its shell before being halted by a BladeSpinner charge. Botknocker-19 spun slowly in place for the remainder of the fight and was ultimately deemed immobile. BladeSpinner took the win by knockout and moved on in the bracket. |
BladeSpinner vs. Warrior Next up was Warrior. Both robots met in the middle of the arena and Warrior immediately stopped moving. BladeSpinner delivered a hit to the rear of Warrior. BladeSpinner pushed it around for a few seconds and as Warrior was counted out, BladeSpinner took the win and advanced in the Loser's Bracket. |
BladeSpinner vs. Verbal Abuse Its next fight came against Verbal Abuse. BladeSpinner was armed with a tall pole and forks protruding from the front. It was able to ram Verbal Abuse early on, but could not sent it into the wall. The two bots locked horns and BladeSpinner maneuvered its opponent to the pulverizer. lost this fight and was ultimately eliminated from the competition. Verbal Abuse then got into the battle, using its low plow to control BladeSpinner momentarily and taking it to the opposite pulverizer. BladeSpinner was dead for a few seconds but drove away from the hazard and continued to fight. Verbal Abuse dictated the tempo of the fight for the remaining seconds and took the win by judges' decision. |
