BioHazard was one of eight BattleBots competitors selected for the Battle Chains line of toys. As part of the First and Second Editions released by Jakks Pacific, BioHazard was one of four Battle Chains toys released in 2001.
It is easily identifiable as Carlo Bertocchini's title-winning heavyweight, with its low profile, sloped sides and sponsorship decals replicated on the toy. BioHazard's iconic lifter is also represented, activating in a way which reflects that of the real-life robot.
Like every other Battle Chains release, BioHazard had a keyring and chain attached which, when pulled, would activate its weaponry. In the case of BioHazard, its four-bar lifting arm would raise and retract.
The toy was sold individually in stores, and also in a pack of four through the BattleBots Store, priced at $15.00. This set also included the other three releases from the first two waves, Mauler, OverKill and Snake.
Trivia[]
- The BioHazard Battle Chains toy had to be rereleased with a censored name in order to avoid conflict with Mattel, who owned the rights to the 1998 Hot Wheels series of the same name.
- The Battle Chains release was later dubbed 'Heavyweight Champion'.
