Big Robot was a middleweight robot built by students of Miami Coral Park Sr. High School which competed in BotsIQ events in 2007 and 2008.

It was a two-wheel drive, trapezoid-shaped robot with steep, sloped sides. Largely armored in transparent Lexan, Big Robot's chassis was made from welded metal tubing. It was armed with a belt-driven, front-mounted vertical spinner and featured various decals across the body, including the high school's name and bespoke warning signs. Big Robot lacked a self-righting mechanism and was unable to drive inverted. Big Robot's opponents are not known from the 2007 event, but it took on fellow teammate Spatulator in 2008 and then suffered notable damage at the hands of overhead spinner Thunderstruck, though results from either fight are unconfirmed. It did not reach a podium finish in 2007, meaning it is a safe assumption that Big Robot lost at least twice due to the event's double elimination format.

The high school also entered the aforementioned Spatulator, Shuriken, Frantic Tap, Rev, and iWedge into the 2008 middleweight category along with Mini Class entry The Wedgie, though it is unknown if these were all from the same team, known as Ninjaneering with regards to Shuriken according to a video uploaded by then-student Manuel Perez-Trujillo.

Robot History

BotsIQ 2007 Please note that the order of the following fights is unknown, as documentation on the event itself is either limited or non-existent. This is typically true of untelevised events such as BattleBots IQ and those sanctioned by the BattleBots name.
Big Robot vs. ? Big Robot first fought in BotsIQ 2007, where its opponents are not known.
BotsIQ 2008
Big Robot vs. Spatulator Big Robot gives chase. Big Robot causes damage to Spatulator late on. Big Robot returned for the 2008 event, again in the High School 120lb division. Its only known opponent was Spatulator. Throughout the fight, Big Robot's weapon struggled for reach against Spatulator, who in return could not capitalize on opportunities to flip the Miami entry over. At around the midway point, Big Robot's weapon tore into armor on Spatulator, which hung off the back. Though Spatulator was able to drive Big Robot under the pulverizer late on, Big Robot shoved back and carved into Spatulator's front armor in the closing stages and seemingly immobilized it. Spatulator survived to a judges' decision, but the winner is not known.

Here, Thunderstruck was able to cause significant damage to the sides of Big Robot, though the winner of this is unconfirmed.
