During May 2007, a private BattleBots event took place at the annual Sun Microsystems JavaOne conference at the Moscone Center, San Francisco, in California. The event ran between the 8th and 11th of that month, with BotRank.com listings suggesting that the competition itself took place on the 10th.[3]
The JavaOne event was open exclusively to robots in the 120lb middleweight class, eight of which attended and competed in the main knockout-based tournament. Future ABC and Discovery-era competitors SubZero and Icewave secured the top two positions, the former winning outright after stopping Icewave's spinner and throwing it over the arena wall within twelve seconds.
An exhibition match also took place between the superheavyweight Ginsu and Team PlumbCrazy's highly-successful heavyweight Sewer Snake, the first and only known appearance by the latter at a BattleBots event.[4]
