BattleBots IQ 2005 was the fourth BattleBots IQ event sanctioned under the BattleBots name.

The 2005 event welcomed students aged from 12 to 22 to compete in three separate competitions. New for this year, BattleBots IQ introduced a 15lb division exclusive for high school students. These smaller robots were not given a dedicated arena, but were instead confined to a square-shaped enclosure in the middle of the standard arena, which had its own barriers and Lexan panels. As such, the makeshift arena had unofficial flip-out zones whereupon Mini Class robots could throw opponents out of the arena.

The overall event held three separate competitions - a 120lb college division, as well as both 120lb and 15lb competitions for high school students. Competitions were judged by Jim Smentowski, Brian Nave, Dr. Peter Drewes, Joanne Pransky, Amy Sun and William Garcia de Quevedo.

The college 120lb competition was won by Marc DeVidts' middleweight version of Icewave in the final, beating Alakran in a rematch from the previous competition. Third place was taken by Victor Soto and The Revenant. In the High School 120lb division, Falcon defeated E2V2 in the final, with Paul Ventimiglia and Green Wave finishing third.

The inaugural 15lb event was won by Team Whyachi's Falcon15, a downscaled version of their middleweight drum spinner, which backed up its 2004 success with a second successive High School Division win after defeating Team Excessive Force and MaXimum Impact in the final. Mini E took third place in the Mini Class, built by Team Titanium Knights.

• According to a 2005 article, 24% of registered competitors for this particular event were female. One of which was Andrea Suarez, who would co-captain Witch Doctor a decade later.
• Interestingly, Palmetto was not listed among the 15lb competitors on the official Pit Table spreadsheet. The same is true of 120lb competitor Monkey Knife Fighter.
