The BattleBots Hall of Fame is an official class recognizing and honoring the achievements of individuals since the beginning of BattleBots in 1999.

Its inaugural inductees were announced during the final episode of BattleBots: Champions II and received banners similar to those of Giant Nut winners introduced for World Championship VII.

Marc Thorpe[]

The first of whom was Marc Thorpe, credited as the "godfather of robot combat" by BattleBots co-creator Greg Munson as the founder of the Robot Wars brand in San Francisco in 1994.

His ideas garnered the attention of many future BattleBots competitors such as Donald Hutson, Gage Cauchois and Jim Smentowski, as well as that of Munson and his cousin and future co-creator Trey Roski.

While Thorpe would not have an active or direct role in the evolution of BattleBots, he planted the seed for robot combat to become popular within the United States and worldwide. The Robot Wars name would later be given to a separate UK series, and Thorpe even made an on-screen appearance to present Team Razer with their First World Championship trophy.

Mark Setrakian[]

Second was Mark Setrakian, a former BattleBots competitor, judge and creator of the Axis robot used to display the Giant Nut trophy. He formed part of Team Sinister alongside Pete Abrahamson with robots such as The Master, Snake and Mechadon. All of these were marvels of engineering which many fans and builders alike have pointed to for inspiration.

He remains part of the BattleBots crew to this day, leading the way for a dedicated division for walking robots in the future. Setrakian seeks to "restart the conversation about walking robots" following the redesign of Chomp into a 500lb walker for World Championship V, which led to the development of Stalker - a 77lb testbed which a variety of weapons could be equipped to.
