Bambino was a lightweight robot which competed in the final three seasons of Comedy Central BattleBots. It was a silver robot shaped like a baseball base armed with two swinging bats which were used as bludgeoning hammers. It performed poorly in competition, winning only two fights.
After BattleBots ended, Bambino was rebuilt, renamed Street Thug, and continued fighting with some success. The team that built Bambino also built another Middleweight, Whambulance that competed in the first BattleBots IQ competition to much more success.
Robot History[]
Season 3.0[]
Bambino's first ever opponent was Mr. Snoogglepuss. In this fight neither robots' weapons did much damage to the other. Bambino was the aggressor however, keeping on Mr. Snoogglepuss, and preventing it from spinning up, as well as getting a few hits at the end.[1]
Bambino won on a 28-17 judges' decision and advanced to the next round where it faced Sparky. This fight started with Sparky spinning up to full speed, and driving to the middle of the BattleBox where its blade impacted Bambino. Sparky then backed up, and got up to speed again before attempting to attack Bambino once more, however Bambino backed up, and Sparky only managed to nick it with its blade.
Sparky then spun back up, and slammed into Bambino, ripping off one of its baseball bat weapons. Sparky then attempted to spin up again, however that last hit had caused Sparky's blade to stop working. Both bots then shoved each other around, before Sparky got under Bambino, and slammed it into the spikestrips.[2]
This knocked something in Sparky back in place, and its blade started working again.
Sparky then slammed into Bambino once more, ripping the other baseball bat off, however the blade broke down once more, and both bots shoved each other around for the last 10 seconds of the match. Bambino lost on a 39-6 judges' decision, and was eliminated from the competition.[2],[3]
Season 4.0[]
Bambino's only fight this season was against Rambite. This fight started with Rambite slamming into it, bending one of its baseball bat weapons. However, the full body spinner's rim touched the ground and it began to do a mauler dance.
Bambino then showed off the noise level of its bat weapons on the floor, but never actually used them on Rambite, who, after recovering from its near mauler, smacked it around even more and broke one bat apart. Rambite then proceeded to send various parts flying for the remainder of the match and unsurprisingly won a 27-18 decision, eliminating Bambino from the competition.
Season 5.0[]
Since the previous version of Bambino never made it back to Florida after Season 4.0 due to Greyhound Package Express losing the bot in transit Bambino was a completely new robot for Season 5.0.[4]. Its first ever fight was against rookie bar spinner, Poink. It won on a 31-14 judges' decision, and advanced to the next round where it faced Whirl Wep, it lost this match on a close 22-23 split decision eliminating it from the competition.
