Bad News was a lightweight robot which competed in Season 4.0 of Comedy Central's BattleBots.
Bad News was an two-wheel, invertible, square-shaped robot armed with a vertically-spinning drum that spins up to 1500 rpm. It performed decently in competition, winning one battle before losing to Rambite in the round of 64.
After BattleBots, Bad News was put up for sale by team captain Patrick Werner in September 2008.[1] It is unknown if there was ever a buyer.

Bad News vs. Paladin Bad News first went up against Paladin. In the match, Paladin beat the heck out of the floor instead of Bad News. Bad News' drum was quite strong as it tossed Paladin in the air and got underneath with it. Neither robot was dealing any serious damage, despite all the loud noise. Eventually, though, Bad News struck Paladin upwards and got under it a second time. Paladin appeared to be dead after that. The damage; the dents and bends, finally began to show on Paladin, and it didn't last much longer. In the end, the judges gave Paladin most of the points in aggression, but Bad News won nearly all the points in damage and came out strong in strategy, giving it the win, 28-17. |
Bad News vs. Rambite Bad News then faced off against Rambite. The bots circled each other warily, not maneuvering very well. Eventually, they came together, and their powerful weapons clashed. Rambite was knocked away and started to dance, apparently out of balance. Rambite's spinner stopped, but unlike Bad News, Rambite wasn't dead all together. Bad News was counted out, and it was out of the tournament. |
