Bacchus SF01

Bacchus was a heavyweight robot built by a group of students from Lafayette College that competed in Season 3.0 of BattleBots. It was a sloped robot armed with a lifting arm. Bacchus performed really well as a rookie, winning four fights before losing in the televised rounds to Voltronic.

Bacchus was named after the Roman god of wine.

Robot History

Season 3.0

Bacchus's first fight was against PyRAMidroid. Bacchus won on a 32-13 judge's decision and advanced to the final preliminary round, where it faced License to Kill. Bacchus won the match by KO and advanced to the TV rounds, where it faced Blendo.

During the match, Blendo did massive damage to Bacchus, but then Blendo backed off and drove over the piston. The hazard was then fired, but instead of sending Blendo into the air, it pushed the internal components into the spinning shell, destroying Blendo from the inside. The spinbot stopped moving and it was being counted out. Bacchus won by KO and advanced to the round of 32, where it faced Junkyard Offspring. Bacchus won on a close 25-20 judge's decision and advanced to the round of 16, where it faced the two-time heavyweight runner-up Voltronic.

Voltronic vs Bacchus SF01

Voltronic lifts Bacchus.

Voltronic immediately got under Bacchus, but Voltronic ended up driving over the killsaws. Voltronic got underneath Bacchus again and pushed it over the killsaws. Bacchus pushed Voltronic over the killsaws and later drove itself over the killsaws. Bacchus got a small lift on Voltronic, forcing Voltronic to drive under the pulverizer. Voltronic took one hit from the pulverizer and got under Bacchus again, but Bacchus drove right over the wedge. Bacchus pushed Voltronic against the arena wall and started to lift it as Bacchus was pinning Voltronic. Voltronic tried to escape, but Bacchus pinned it again. Voltronic escaped and got under Bacchus. Voltronic's arm went up and Bacchus's wheels were off the ground, but when Voltronic tried to move, Voltronic simply shook in a decidedly abnormal manner. This was because Voltronic was lifting Bacchus on the floor spinner. Voltronic backed off the floor spinner, taking Bacchus with it. Voltronic tried to back Bacchus under the pulverizer, but Voltronic was having traction problems. All Voltronic could do was move an inch forward or backward. So Voltronic lifted Bacchus off the ground before the time ran out. Voltronic won on a close 25-20 judge's decision and Bacchus was eliminated from the tournament.

For unknown reasons, Bacchus didn't participate the heavyweight royal rumble at the end of the tournament.
