Arsenal was a heavyweight robot built by a student group at Colorado School of Mines which applied for BattleBots World Championship III, but was not selected for the competition and ultimately was not built.
It was a triangle-shaped, two-wheel drive robot, to be constructed mostly of steel, that featured three triangular truss structures reminiscent of Tombstone. Each structure has a horizontal spinning bar at the end, a weapon layout similar to future World Championship VI competitor Triple Crown. In the revealed CAD, the team had mocked up the positions for their batteries, wheels and gearboxes in the central triangle chassis. The team also explained that they were exploring mounting the weapon motors in the truss structures, rather than inside the chassis, however the most recent CAD does not reflect these considerations. It was also not explained if the different bar types would be used at the same time or if there would be two more of each bar to use at the same time.[1] In later CAD reveals, Arsenal's wheels protruded from the top of the chassis and allowed it to be invertible.
The team also revealed an earlier mockup of the design, which had the working name Deltaforce. This mockup had the same layout, however had identical bars at the end of each truss as opposed to the three different ones in the later design.[2]
The team ultimately did not construct Arsenal and were not selected to compete. The team mentioned that they refocused the student group in order to construct smaller robots as it would reduce complexity and the price to build robots.
