Armadillo was a middleweight robot built by Creative Anarchy which competed in three seasons of the Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was a four-wheeled invertible robot with no active weapon, relying on ramming and pushing power. It performed rather well in competition, reaching the Round of 32 in Season 4.0.
The builders of Armadillo applied for World Championship II with Black Scorpion. However, it was rejected, largely due to being a late entrant.
Outside BattleBots[]
Armadillo continued to compete after Season 5.0 under the name Stahl. Under this guise, it entered Steel Conflict IV and earned three wins against Rambyte Agsma, Psychoballistic, Bad Attitude before losing to Jimmy.
Stahl notably won third in the middleweight bracket of ROBOlympics in 2004 after racking up four wins over Sweet, Grasshopper, Ravager and Locust, but losing out to Max Wedge and Devil's Plunger.
At the Southwest Division Championships, Stahl lost its opening battle to Psychotron, but followed this up with victories over The Evil Spinner Destroyer and Sweet. However, a second loss, this time to WarSaw, confirmed its elimination.
In 2004, Stahl is known to have fought at the RFL Nationals where it again lost its first fight to Max Wedge. After chalking up wins over Swamp Thing, The Black Mamba and Another Boring Wedge, Stahl was eliminated by Nasty Attitude.

Armadillo vs. Double Agent Armadillo's first opponent in Season 3.0 was Double Agent. When the match began, Armadillo ran head on into the spike strip as a result of the robot being placed backwards by mistake, resulting in a broken axle and drive shaft that hampered its mobility for the rest of the fight. After Armadillo rammed Double Agent against the arena wall at one point, Armadillo stalled one of its drive motors and eventually caught fire before it was counted out. Double Agent won the fight by KO in 56 seconds and Armadillo was eliminated from the tournament. |
Season 4.0[] |
Armadillo vs. WindChill Armadillo's first match in Season 4.0 was against Team Toad's WindChill. WindChill had an early advantage, it lifted Armadillo and slammed it against the spikestrip. That was followed by a pushing match and WindChill got a few more lifts. However, Armadillo was doing more pushing and one of WindChill's wheels got bent, causing steering trouble. Armadillo pressed its advantage, pushing WindChill around and against the spikestrip. After this, one of WindChill's wheels came off entirely. The time ran out shortly after and Armadillo won the match on a 35-10 judges' decision. |
Armadillo vs. ZiggZagg his win put Armadillo to the final preliminary round, where it faced ZiggZagg. Armadillo got in the first ram on ZiggZagg and it appeared to be immobile. After a few seconds, ZiggZagg started moving again. It went straight at Armadillo and went right under it. ZiggZagg's control still seemed a bit intermittent. Armadillo tried to ram ZiggZagg some more, but hit the wedge and went straight over ZiggZagg most of the time. It only got one more good hit. Both bots got stuck together from all the hitting and had to be separated. When they were, it became apparent that ZiggZagg was immobilized. Armadillo started ramming the immobilized ZiggZagg some more and it was being counted out. However, the time ran out first and Armadillo won the fight on a 34-11 judges' decision. |
Armadillo vs. Little Pharma Armadillo was now in the TV rounds, where it faced Little Pharma. Armadillo won the fight by KO in 43 seconds and continued on. |
Armadillo vs. Twin Paradox In the Round of 32, Armadillo faced Twin Paradox. However, Twin Paradox won the match on a close 25-20 judges' decision and Armadillo was eliminated from the tournament again. |
Middleweight Consolation Rumble Due to its Round of 32 placing, Armadillo was able to participate in the Middleweight Consolation Rumble. During the rumble, Armadillo's motors caught fire again, prompting the rumble to be stopped in order to put it out. Armadillo would go on to lose overall to Malvolio and T-Wrex. |
Season 5.0[] |
Armadillo vs. Rest in Pieces Despite reaching the Round of 32 in Season 4.0, Armadillo was still in the preliminary rounds in Season 5.0 and went up against Rest in Pieces first. Armadillo won the fight by KO and continued on. |
