Aluminum Overcast was a heavyweight robot built by Team Five-O-Five for an anticipated Season 6.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was a four-wheel drive, invertible robot with a dual wedge design, much like Double Agent. Contrary to what its name may suggest, it was primarily constructed with tube steel framing, presumably using aluminum panel for armor. It weighed in at 240lbs which would've been 20lbs overweight at the time for the heavyweight division.
It is unknown whether the team intended to reduce its weight to make the heavyweight limit, or instead enter Aluminum Overcast as a superheavyweight.
Aluminum Overcast was originally built by the team behind Season 4.0 and 5.0 superheavyweight Angriff.
Outside BattleBots[]
Despite the show being canceled, Aluminum Overcast would fight at the fourth and fifth RoboJoust events between 2003 and 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Aluminum Overcast picked up wins over Bullistic and Giant Pacific Land Squid before losing to two-time Robot Wars: Extreme Warriors champion, Panzer Mk 4.5. A second loss to S-Jay - a renamed SlamJob - sealed its exit from RoboJoust IV.
Returning for RoboJoust V, Aluminum Overcast did not enjoy the same success as it went winless across the competition. It first lost to Sewer Snake before falling out of the bracket to Evelyn: A Modified Dawg.
At some point, the robot was transferred ownership to Ricardo Pero of San Mateo. Ricardo Pero put Aluminum Overcast up for sale in April of 2024 for an initial listing price of $999.[1]
