Airplane Graveyard is a fictional arena which features in the Game Boy Advance game BattleBots: Beyond the BattleBox and its sequel, BattleBots: Design and Destroy.

It is based on an abandoned airport with barbed wire acting as the arena walls. The arena floor is divided up into a tiled pattern and features the BattleBots logo towards the center. There is room for up to four competitors, with red, blue, green and yellow starting squares in each corner.

As with other fictional arenas, the Airplane Graveyard features hazards familiar to the real-life BattleBox, with pulverizers as well as custom hazards unique to this arena for players to use to their advantage.

Hazards[]

Airplane Graveyard Pit Beyond the BattleBox

The crushing pit sequence.[1]

Crushing Pit[]

The crushing pit is a large, square hole in the floor which has two jaws to crush robots that fall into it. The hole is outlined with black and yellow warning stripes and is always active. Victims of this hazard then respawn in their starting square.

Beyond the BattleBox Airplane Graveyard Turbine

The turbine engine hazard in action.[1]

Turbine Engine[]

In the center of the arena is a large turbine engine which shoots fire from one end. When a robot gets too close to the turbine itself are sucked into the engine and are shaken around before being spat out through the flames, often upside-down.

Airplane Graveyard Magnet Beyond the BattleBox

The magnet picking up Backlash.

Magnet[]

A large magnet hovers around the arena, and is capable of attracting and pulling robots off the arena floor, taking them to the crushing pit. The player can escape the magnet by driving in the opposite direction to which it is pulling.

Pulverizers[]

Two large hammers are housed in the top-left and bottom-right corners of the arena. They are identical in functionality to their appearances in the BattleBox arena.
