AXis was a middleweight robot built by Team Malicious Intent which competed at the inaugural BattleBots IQ tournament in 2002. It also attempted to appear in Comedy Central Season 5.0, but failed to pass safety and could not compete.

It was an octagonal robot armed with sloped sides and an overhead spinning axes for weaponry. AXis was one of many robots built by students from Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, which entered BattleBots events with Team Malicious Intent and Team Excessive Force.

AXis performed modestly in its only competition, losing in the third round of the Winner's Bracket and picking up a second win before losing to Trojan Warrior.

Robot History

BattleBots IQ 2002
AXis vs. Steven Seagal AXis fighting Steven Seagal. AXis received a bye through Round 1, meaning Steven Seagal was its first opponent in the second round. AXis won this fight by KO and advanced in the tournament.
AXis vs. The Edge Next up for AXis was Marc DeVidts and The Edge. This fight started with Edge box rushing AXis, which was already up to full speed. One of AXis's axe heads glanced off of Edge's wedge, and broke off destabilizing it, and forcing the team to run it at low speed for the rest of the fight. Edge took advantage of this and slammed AXis all over the arena before shoving it into the spike strips within a minute of the match starting. At some point during all this, AXis managed to get under Edge and slammed it into the wall. However in doing so, AXis suddenly stopped working and lost by knockout as a result.
AXis vs. Deborah Now in the loser's bracket, AXis faced off against Deborah. It won this battle and advanced.
AXis vs. Trojan Warrior In Round 4 of the loser's bracket, AXis took on Trojan Warrior. AXis lost this fight, and its elimination from the competition was confirmed.
AXis vs. Metal Fury vs. ShellShock vs. WhirlWind vs. Bulldog Warrior vs. Checkmate AXis fighting during the rumble. AXis returned for one of the end-of-competition consolation rumbles. However, ShellShock and WhirlWind were declared the winners, and AXis would not fight again.
